Lol. You post this on your own thread asserting that KH has an irrational plan on inflation.

Trump is going to use his magical magic powers to will into existence dozens of new nuclear plants, and to will the price of natural gas 50% lower.

All while eliminating renewable energy because it's really really bad : the TV will go out at night and the tanks will freeze on their way into battle.

I'm trying to figure out if I need to sell some awesome pipeline stocks I've had forever. Tough to figure out Trump's amazing plans.... 20231013_233517.jpg

I do think it’s absolutely ridiculous how the items in the center of the store (chips, soda, cookies, breads, canned goods etc) all cost about 20% more at Publix for the exact same items/brands than at Kroger or Walmart.

Not sure if that sort of thing can be addressed via existing anti-trust laws but that would be awesome. Pisses me off that they arbitrarily raised their prices more than the other stores because they could get away with it.

I have my doubts anything ever comes of this but I think the idea of it will resonate well with the average voter.

Kinda like “Build a wall and Mexico will pay for it” I would be happy if we would just enforce the anti trust laws we already have.

Yeah similar to that but much much less far fetched. Something may actually come of the efforts to curb price gouging. And while it might not be a good idea for some of the reasons Iboy laid out upthread - good luck getting Trump to articulate that to voters in swing states.

Unfortunately, nobody is behind this idea besides the true socialists and communists among us. Yourself included, apparently.

We'll see if Kamala cleans up her speech today. If she throws out a couple more socialist ideas, it could begin to unravel for her. This is exactly the type of thing Kamala's campaign didn't want to happen. The easier they make it for Trump/Vance to label her a radical leftist, the easier Trump wins the election.

We'll see how "make groceries cheaper" plays vs "Elon Musk and Peter Thiel want to privatize oxygen and charge you a subscription"

    Washington Post Op-Ed:

The link is not free but provided anyway.

Opinion | Kamala Harris’s price gouging proposal is a terrible idea - The Washington Post

It’s not hard to figure out where this proposal came from. Voters want to blame someone for high grocery bills, and the presidential candidates have apparently decided the choices are either the Biden administration or corporate greed. Harris has chosen the latter.

In a news release Wednesday, her campaign said the first 100 days of her presidency would include the “first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries — setting clear rules of the road to make clear that big corporations can’t unfairly exploit consumers to run up excessive corporate profits on food and groceries.”

What are these “clear rules of the road” or the thresholds that determine when a price or profit level becomes “excessive”? The memo doesn’t say, and the campaign did not answer questions I sent seeking clarification.

It’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is. It is, in all but name, a sweeping set of government-enforced price controls across every industry, not only food. Supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Far-off Washington bureaucrats would. The FTC would be able to tell, say, a Kroger in Ohio the acceptable price it can charge for milk. At best, this would lead to shortages, black markets and hoarding, among other distortions seen previous times countries tried to limit price growth by fiat.

I've been to maybe 35-40 countries, sometimes vacation, sometimes working. The food is usually better abroad. Also walk a lot more in Europe (and I walk a lot here) but always lose weight, even on vacation.

Imo she needs to win votes of center, right of center & rinos who abhor trump. I know some. More than being “communist” this plan isn’t pragmatic and would cause other problems. And gimmicky. those potential votes will see it like that. Not encouraging she chose to roll this out, campaign Harris needs to be hitting 3’s to beat trump.

Obama Economist Rips Socialist-Style Price Controls:

Obama Economist Jason Furman Rips Kamala Harris's Socialist-Style Price Control Policy (breitbart.com)

First the Washington Post and now this from an Obama economist. (chuckle)

Jason Furman, a former economist for President Barack Obama, slammed Vice President Kamala Harris’s price control policy as “a lot of rhetoric and no reality” on Thursday.

Harris blamed soaring food inflation on corporations gouging consumers. Her remedy entails a federal ban on gouging through socialist-style price controls.

“This is not sensible policy, and I think the biggest hope is that it ends up being a lot of rhetoric and no reality,” Furman told the New York Times on Thursday.

“There’s no upside here, and there is some downside,” he added.

This is fake news. And very very communist.

Didja like that? That's what we've heard from Trumppublicans for 8 years.

Does it surprise you that some would take offense to your seamlessly transitioning between the worlds of legitimate facts and alternate reality.....as it suits your purposes?
