I'm sure you make other analogies all the time in your job that have no basis in reality.

Based on our posting history I feel pretty confident in saying I operate within the framework of "reality" a lot more than you do.

We had price controls from basically the depression to after WWII. They serve a purpose in certain instances. When they ended in 1946, grocery prices jumped pretty drastically. We had a bunch of inflation in the late 40s in fact.

Price controls? No bueno. But she doesn't seem to be planning that.

The Nihilists don't care about learning something new... They just want to discredit everything the opposition has to say.

How do you propose she addresses "price gouging" if not with price controls? "If you charge more than X for this product, it's too much." That's price control. Elizabeth Warren has been beating this drum for a while now. One only has to look at banking legislation over the past few years to understand their fix to "price gouging" is to set caps on what grocers can charge for food. Breaking them up or enforcing existing law on anti-trust doesn't guarantee price to consumer.

Tariffs quick and easy... easy money. China lives by placing tariffs on other countries.

Enforcing Antitrust laws equals years of paying lawyers to sit on their hands... doing nothing, with no compensation.

This language on the surface is terrible and almost enough to make me stop supporting her - against anybody except maybe Trump.

Late Wednesday, the Harris campaign said she would push for the “first-ever federal ban” on food price hikes, including broad new powers for federal authorities. The announcement comes as Harris also plans to detail her plans to lower prescription drug prices and housing costs.

Details of the plan are still unclear. But the campaign said the aim is to enact the ban within the first 100 days of her presidency if Harris is elected. That would include directing the Federal Trade Commission to impose “harsh penalties” on firms that break new limits on “price gouging,”

Do what i've done for the past 2 elections. Either vote 3rd party or just skip that box in the voting booth. Will be my 3rd straight election not voting for either major party.

That's sorta my point .... Kamala seems to be promising to do something that's already being done. I'm not sure what sort of reaction she expects from people with such a "promise". This is similar in some ways to the promise to fight inflation ... well yeh, that should be a given for any potus and oh .... I think that fight is already being fought, although some would argue that nothing or not enough is really being done.

Given her support for reparations .... I've heard nothing from her that makes me want to jump up and down and cheer. But, I'm not a progressive.

Weaponization as in the tactics that are used in Russia and Venezuela. We have laws and agencies. What we don't need is a socialist communist style of government interfering with the laws and agencies.

The cure for that is for the "opposition" to be correct occasionally.

BS. This isn't a serious proposal. All she wants is for the pubs to say this is the BS that it is so she can divert her responsibility for the inflation that we have had since dems took office.

If it is a serious proposal, it's dangerous, radical, reckless, anti-democracy which isn't a surprise, and undercuts the US free market system with more expensive regulations that is costly and will shut down the economy by providing less goods and service, the opposite effect than what is needed. Kamrade Harris wants the US to be Russia and Venezuela.

Believe it or not, the US has any number of laws that allow the implementing of price controls on the books. Not to mention command-style production!

and they have never worked on top of this proposal is something new altogether. If you want Russia and Venezuela, move there. We're not going to have it here.
