Fair enough. You do you. Personally, I choose not to wallow in self-imposed agita by systematically ignoring more recent developments that auger well for that room - which is pretty much how I see your take. It's officially time to agree to disagree.

I have it on good authority that Ron Roberts will unleash those wild gators and bum-rush the opposing O-lines. The opposing QBs might just be running for their lives.

But I agree, if we give any SEC QB all day to find their receivers, no defense in the country can handle that. We need to get to the QB... something the last two DC's never really could NOT achieve. Some of that was the wrong scheme, and some of that was hardheadedness/incompetence. Ron Roberts is well aware of what it takes to get to the opposing QB.

Even the Auburn beat writers know this about Ron Roberts, and they know he will turn around the entire defense as well. Wait and see...

It's all speculation on the "recent developments". The only player that has shown much at a major college level is the Turner guy from Washington. Hard to tell about the new DB coach as you don't "know" how much actual effect he had on those teams he coached. Once again it's just hopeful speculation. Every time we get a new coach their is enthusiasm about him until their isn't. We haven't had a single coach at any level (I think) that has lasted more than 4 years since Urban left. That's a long period of time of short tenures. Of course I realize most assistants are not going to be retained by the new head coach but still. Regarding returning players, there's always hope they will be bigger, stronger, faster, tackle better and cover better, but often they are what they are. Marshall being a good example. Hasn't really shown much all 3 years he's been here. And I believe he was the most highly rated guy in HS except for the newest guys. Like I said, there's always hope, but not a whole lot of solid evidence that we are going to be vastly improved.

    Only half?
Fine and dandy. I've already agreed to respectfully disagree.

I won't be able to make it this year due to being too damn gimpy to brave those steps and the heat. I am going to try to make it to the Gator gathering in Pensacola later this week though, and I'll wear a lizard breath name tag on my vintage Gators baseball jersey. I have mostly brown hair and wear glasses. I'd love to meet at some point before I shuffle off this mortal coil, but this scUM game is a bridge too far for me in my current level of decrepitude.

    From PNJ:
The NW FL Gators club will host its gathering at Seville Quarter at Phineas Phogg's. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by the actual show at 6:30.
Admission is free with hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. There will also be a silent auction and raffle.

What day is this? I see it’s Thursday evening at Seville. I’ll try to make up.

The Gator Club is tonight but late breaking news events of the grandchildren variety are happening as of this morning, so I will be unavoidably "repurposed." I was looking forward to meeting some fellow posters, but the kids come first.

True, but changing diapers and explaining my many failures as a comic and as a pushover of a grandad will no doubt factor in.:p

Never underestimate the power of the Swamp! Crowd should be into it and Miami won't be able to think and as a result will make big mistakes. Wish I could be there. GO GATORS!!

And our team plays better when feeding off the crowd. We've seen how other teams implode in the Swamp. Hope to see it.

I worked with a Nebraska guy then. He wasn't a jerk at all.

But..he said that team beat everyone they played by 5 TDs. I didn't look it up, just took his word for it.
