Besides your last comment which was unnecessary, I agree with you. I don't like how the Olympics is not mostly professionals. As much as I loved the Dream Team back in the day it should be amateurs competing in the Olympics, not professionals.

But I also get it. Every other country were using professionals which was putting the U.S. at a major disadvantage. If the Olympics could somehow force countries to only allow amateurs/college athletes to participate, I would completely support that.

I also agree with the athlete shopping. If you don't make the U.S. team you don't get to go to Japan or Australia or Germany just because you can make that team. That should be outlawed for the most part. The only exception would be if you can trace heritage back to a country. So like for me my mom's side is English/Irish and my dad's side is Italian. So for me for example the only options should be to represent the U.S. or possibly England, Ireland or Italy because of heritage. I shouldn't be able to not make the U.S. but then shop around and play for Costa Rica.

Once again the classic Democrat projection. Project onto others what you truly believe. Liberals are the ones who have made politics become someone's morality and identity. Liberals are the ones who want to "Other" anyone who doesn't share their world view.

Liberals: "We're so open minded and accepting and loving, as long as you believe exactly what we believe."

Liberals are the ones who want to have any ideas they don't support removed from society. Many Liberals would be more than happy to have Conservatives and MAGA put in re-education camps if they could. And if Kamala Harris somehow wins, I worry that sadly may become a reality.

I know what you are trying to do and I'm not going to bite. I don't doubt the majority of entertainment, musicians, writers, actors and actresses are liberal. Hollywood has all but banned Conservatives from even having a chance in their industry.

One of my best friends, who did production/sound technician work for Hollywood 20 years ago, was blacklisted because he was openly Conservative. Could no longer get work so he had to move back to Ohio. So it's easy to say all entertainment is liberal when conservatives are essentially not allowed to participate.

I don't debate most entertainment/arts are liberal, but you act like there isn't a single conservative in existence who would be an entertainer, an actor, an actress, an artist, a singer. Do you really believe that no Conservatives exist who can compose music, be an actor/actress or write books?

I just think it’s interesting that you want the Olympics separated by politics because you don’t feel represented but nearly all of the art you appreciate is inevitably made by liberals.

Just remember the next time you’re playing your favorite video game, watching your favorite show or movie, listening to your favorite band, song etc.

Almost exclusively all liberals made what you’re enjoying. Must suck some serious ding dong to belong to a political party almost completely devoid of artistic talent.

    Sucks to suck.

And lmao @ the idea that conservatives aren’t “allowed” to be creative. Bless your heart.

I enjoyed these Olympics as much or more as any i have watched. Was inspiring to see athletes from a country that had never won anything compete and get a medal. And the bumper cars kayak competition was a hoot.

Peter Thiel is trying to fund a juiced-up Olympics, so maybe the people that want an alt-Olympics should get behind that. I'm sure if he promises no women that look too masculine (though if you are allowed to use steroids and testosterone I dont know how that will work), he'll attract a lot of bitcoin bros, weirdos and assorted ghouls.

I feel like someone just lit a bag of poopie on fire on our front porch and is hiding in the bushes across the street to watch what happens.

I can’t tell if he’s a troll. I mostly just feel sorry for him. If he’s trolling I wonder if that’s what he’s going for.

What if Republicans just compete in the Special Olympics instead?

If getting mad at things were an Olympic sport, the American conservative team would win gold every year

Not a split Olympics but U.S. that truly reflect their people. If we had to I would say only Conservatives from Red states could represent the Conservative U.S. team and only Liberals from Blue states could represent the Liberal U.S. team.

Think of it more as an East Germany/West Germany situation from the 1970s and 1980s or a North Korea/South Korea type situation today.

I know as a Conservative I feel no connection to a lot of the athletes representing the U.S. because I know their Liberal politics.

As it currently stands I’d much rather see athletes from a lot of European and Hispanic countries (mostly because many of the women athletes from those countries are far more attractive but also because they truly represent their people) win over the U.S. athletes and that’s unfortunate.

Maybe you could have an Olympics where another Olympics pretends to be the old Olympic's mom, you could create a new account, er Olympics every 4 years or so

Why you all think this can’t even be considered is beyond me. Flip the script, if a U.S. athlete won gold and then talked about how he supports abortion bans with no exceptions and wants to outlaw gay/lesbian marriages you all would want to burn him at the stake. There would probably be calls to remove him from the U.S. Olympic team. Would you really feel represented by him?

That’s how many Conservatives feel. Underrepresented. The Olympics are a different animal. It’s not about the athlete as an individual. They’re supposed to compete and try to win for their country, not themselves. That’s why many of us hated Rapinoe, she made it about herself and not the U.S. She forgot she was suppose to represent all the U.S., not just the 50% that share her politics. U.S. athletes at International Competitions are supposed to be the representation for their people. I sure as heck don’t feel represented.

American athletes do represent Americans though. The fact that there is sufficient ideological diversity in the U.S. that you believe we could field two separate teams is consistent with that level of representation. I don't think your complaint is so much with the athletes as with America itself.

I literally know nothing about the politics of any Olympian and don't care. I would say people in their 20s that train 10 hours a day to get excellent at some athletic pursuit aren't thinking a lot about politics at all. If you dont feel represented by your country, I dont really care to be honest. I dont either much of the time when it comes to politics and things like that, but the Olympics are cool because I can put all the other BS and evil about this country aside and see people be excellent at things. So why the hell would I want a political Olympics ... your idea sucks ass dude.

Wow you really consider the U.S. evil? Why are you here then?

I agree the U.S. has made bad mistakes in the past. Newsflash, every country ever in human existence has. Every country and every single race and ethnicity has blood on their hands. No one single country, race or ethnic group is 100% clean.

The U.S. doesn’t have nearly the atrocities that many older countries have. This is what gets me about you liberals. You truly seem to believe that the U.S. is evil and every other country is magically 100% clean.

Do you hold all other countries to the same standard you hold the U.S.?

This might be a crazy idea but what if US athletes from all sides of the political spectrum compete in some sort of "trials" with the winner going on to represent the country as a whole. That way it's fair and the true best represent the country, regardless of idealogy.

The events themselves would not be political in any way. Just Conservative athletes representing Conservatives and Liberal athletes representing Liberals.
