Yes, it's exactly like that. One can oppose prohibition on alcohol without liking alcohol. It's a question of freedom and societal benefit. Prohibition promoted neither.

Once again you decided to substitute "allowing" to "promoting". There is a difference. I also infer from your position that you support a near ban on abortions because you oppose elective abortions even if it means making it more difficult for physicians to perform medically necessary abortions potentially jeopardizing the health of women. Using your analogy regarding alcohol I'm not a fan of the recreational use of marijuana even though I did smoke weed decades ago. That being said I still not believe that it should be prohibited and support the repeal of laws criminalizing the use and possession of marijuana by the Federal government and in states where they are still on the books.

Kamala and the Dems are simply copying Muhammed Ali: "rope a dope"
They will let him punch/talk himself out of the fight...if he takes the bait.
Trump can win - if he doesn't go sideways, which is yet to be determined.

No, there’s not my take at all. You’re missing a key factor. There are multiple uses for guns that do not involve murder. Millions of rounds of ammunition are fired every year. Very few of those are fired at another human being.

Abortion only has one use, and that is to terminate the developing fetus.

Post election, one of the reasons often cited for Clinton's low turn out in 2016 was people just got tired of hearing about her. "BENGHAZI!!!" and "EMAILS!!!" worked. People were burnt out. Now Trump is on the end of this. 12 years of his shit and legal trouble and people are ready for something new. Biden won "campaigning from his basement". Harris is flying under the radar, running a positive campaign, taking her message to massive crowds, and so far she is winning. None of the shit Trump tosses sticks. It just makes Trump look desperate, and the more he tries to stick his face in front of cameras, the people will see it's "same shit, different day" with him.

Harris is smart to lay low and the let the convention, a controlled and well-planned environment, where everyone will be singing her praises, be her introduction to most voters. After that, she'll probably open up to more interviews.

This is so far-fetched that no amount of rational dialog is going to help you. Literally every sentence you wrote is incorrect, except the bit about millions of rounds being fired.

You’re making some incorrect presumptions there, friend. I in no way want to restrict medical care needed to save the mother’s life.

You see every sentence I wrote save one is incorrect? Are you saying that no other use for a gun exists besides murdering people? Are you saying that there are uses for abortion besides ending pregnancies? What exactly is incorrect in the other sentences?

So by promoting free speech, you are promoting something like racial or religious bigotry? Your argument is that promoting the legal ability to do something is apparently promoting the usage of that something (and a bigot has the right to speak about their bigotry). So you can't believe that somebody should have the legal right to do something but not necessarily want them to do it?

Your post made me think of something else. It appears that you and others are establishing the principal that if someone fights to legalize an activity, and once legal other people engage in that activity to cause harm, the person who fought to legalize the activity will bear no blame whatsoever in the harm caused. Because allowing is not promoting.

    Yes
No and that is not the inverse of your claim.
You are looking at the issue far too simplistically (the word "use" is quite problematic here), which is a root of our disconnect. Maybe some other posters have the patience to take this further, I don't. Have a good night, phat!

Of course it isn't. It is a basic principle of this country. The fact that I let somebody legally say or do something, doesn't mean that I agree with their choices and, in no way, makes me responsible for the choice that they make.

All right, sports fans. Thinking of this some more, I’ll grant you that fighting to allow something is not necessarily promoting that thing, even if the successful fight leads to that thing occurring more often.

I guess we need to keep this in mind the next time someone wants to blame the NRA for a mass shooting.

You don't think there's health benefits to a pregnant woman if the fetus is ectopic and the life of the woman is in danger?

Lol Oh this is too good to be true! You know it’s bad when Jim f ing Acosta is calling you out!!!! She refuses to take questions, refuses to do interviews! Her campaign is so damn scared to let her think on the spot without a teleprompter! Doesn’t that make you stop and think about putting her into office?!?!!? A potus that won’t be open and honest and take difficult questions? That’s ok, she can’t hide forever. As long as the debate is fair and honest, she will be exposed as the original DEI candidate. Don’t get mad at that statement. That’s why Biden picked her, because she’s a poc and female. His words!

In the last four weeks that she’s been the candidate, I’ve heard of only three primary reasons why ppl are voting for her. NONE of which are because of policy or anything actually important.

    1. Anybody but trump
    2. She’s a women (asinine)
    3. She’s black (or Asian) who knows anymore? (Asinine)

That’s it. Do not say otherwise because we all know it’s true. End of the day, it doesn’t matter what gets you the W, I suppose. same as what Biden did in the basement. Fake it ‘till you make it. She is a fraud and you guys voting for her know it. YOU KNOW IT. Deep down inside, you guys are not fans. But you’ve steadily convinced yourselves that she’s a great candidate. It wasn’t that long ago every dem ever crapped all over her. Now she’s all of a sudden this miraculous generational candidate?!?!? Pleeeeease.

Last thing I’ll say before I take an extended vacation from too hit. For context- I voted for dem presidents in the past. I’ve lived most of my adult life as a Democrat. A couple friends here on GC can attest to that. That should tell you what I think abt this fraud trying to lead our country.

    Woke gone wild
    DEI gone wild
    Trans gone wild
    Border gone wild (too late)
    Reparations gone wild
    Economy gone wild
    Foreign policy gone wild

neither candidate is a grand slam hire, but at least one has actually run this country. The other had a hand in dismantling it and now campaigns to fix it. Lmao What a time to be alive. God bless America

Trump ran this country into the ground with his revolving door of cabinet members, two impeachments, mishandling of COVID, and more. Trump would further burn the country down with his tariff plan, anti-immigration plan, and lack of plan to do anything else with things like healthcare.

Harris is Biden's VP. Some accomplishments include the infrastructure bill, best economy in the world, and billions of business funds secured for C America countries which has lead to the lowest number of migrant encounters in 2024 in years. Oh, and overall crime rates are down too.

Trump is an insult comic at best, and criminal sociopath that only cares about himself at worst. And frankly, I don't care if Harris holds a press conference or not.
