By: Nick Marcinko -- August 14, 2024 It didn’t take long for Florida’s staff to realize what kind of athlete they had in linebacker Aaron Chiles. “He’s an alien.” strength and conditioning coach Tyler Miles said on Chiles. “I told Coach Napier after two days of training Aaron Chiles, he’s a very impressive young man. Honestly a lot of guys have come in and hit the ground running and haven’t missed a beat. They’ve done a phenomenal job.” “He’s a freak”: Freshman Linebacker Aaron Chiles Turning Heads in Weight Room | GatorCountry.com
This article made me think of when we had the original "Freak" playing . . . I can't wait to watch Chiles develop.
It was so important for coach Napier to bring in top notch linebackers and it appears he has done that. I really look forward to Graham and Chiles getting on the field and watching them mature and adapt to SEC play.
I remember this recruit quite well. He was the one that just committed, and then we really didn't hear a bunch from him or about him. Then, he quietly put together one of the best seasons any Gator recruit had while still in high school. He earned his place in the state of Maryland as THE TOP football player in high school list. I think, if memory serves me, that he was working out after high school with a former Gator player, forgot which one, but that was good news... especially when I found out that he was not enrolling early like many of our other top talent did. He's another player with talent to play early for the Gators. I love this recruit... and I said so from the beginning of his recruitment and to this day. Now it seems he's advancing faster than I hoped he would. We need more like Aaron Chiles type players in Gainesville. This class of recruits will be even more talented than last year's class that saw 11 or more freshman see the field in a games last year. But with the talent this year's team has stacked up, we might not see 11 freshman play in games like we did last year, because we have so much more depth on this year's team... Funny how that works. Now that's a nice dilemma for any team... He and Myles Graham have me excited about the future defense that Napier and company are amassing in Gainesville. More on Aaron Chiles. It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's 'Alien' Aaron Chiles turning heads for the Gators
We are getting some high end talent but they are still young and inex. Give it a couple more years for these kids to come into their own. It’s coming.
I agree, but the talent that Napier is getting is not being respected by the ranking services as much as they should be respected. One thing that's just recently being talked about is Napier's eye for talent. However, that's not the case with Chiles. He was a 4* star and highly thought of, but he might end up being a 5* star talent sooner rather than later. While everyone was talking about Myles Graham, and rightly so, they almost ignored Chiles after he committed to the Gators. Both are studs, and both will be as good or better than they think.
Coach not only improved this year’s roster through the portal he continues to improve next year’s roster with young men like Chiles and Graham. We rolling boys, hold on loosely and enjoy the ride. We coming!
