By: Nick Marcinko -- August 13, 2024 It’s not often you see a starting safety fresh off a National Championship game transfer to a program coming off three consecutive losing seasons, but that’s what happened when Asa Turner transferred from Washington to Florida this offseason. Turner, a 6’3, 210-pound safety from San Diego, California, has played in 43 collegiate games including 28 starts across five seasons at Washington. Turner has battled injuries throughout his football career, which kept him sidelined for eight regular season games in 2023, allowing the safety to apply for a medical redshirt in order to earn one final year of eligibility. His experiences playing college football on a team (Washington) that went to the Championship game in college football are invaluable to our younger guys. Glad he part of this team.
Last time that I remember UF getting a graduate transfer CB from out west, it turned out pretty well! - Ryan Smith
