The withdrawal timeframe was set by President Trump and President Biden inherited it. The fault is not with either of them, though. It was the Government of Afghanistan’s job to hold the line as we departed, but since they all just basically laid down and surrendered each province one by one, we had to conduct a hasty withdrawal. The only other option was to stop the withdrawal and restart the war, which there wasn’t any public support for, nor any real strategic benefit to doing so.

• Which negotiated the US retreat from Afghanistan with the Taliban without giving the then government of Afghanistan a seat the table?
• Which Administration forced the Afghani government to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners including a number designated as terrorists?
• Which Administration agreed to a withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan by May 31, 2021?
• Which president reduced the number of US troops in Afghanistan below the number recommended by his own generals for an orderly withdrawal?

The answer for the first three is the Trump Administration; for the last one it's both Trump and Biden and Trump if he is elected will almost certainly do to Ukraine what he did to Afghanistan. He set the government of Afghanistan up to a certain failure before leaving office (not that Biden is free of blame for debacle) and he will hand Ukraine over to Vladimir Putin.
