Why won't Harris agree to more debates?

The Harris campaign have yet to sign on for any other debates besides Sep 10th. The excuse being floated is they are concerned Trump won't show for the Sep 10th debate, but that doesn't explain Harris not agreeing to a Sep 25th debate hosted by NBC.

What's noteworthy about the Sep 25th date is that Lester Holt is the proposed moderator for that debate. Lester Holt is the guy who torpedoed Harris in an interview talking about the border crisis. "But you haven't actually been to the border." Harris was flustered by the question and is probably not keen on going in front of Holt for a 90 minute debate.

Did she ever specifically say that she wouldn't participate in any more debates? Since I apparently missed it please provide a link quoting Kamala Harris or a campaign spokesperson speaking on her behalf quoting her stating that she is absolutely ruling out participating in other debates as the title of this thread is clearly implying.

I don't see any need to rush. As the polls continue to shift in her favor she'll have more leverage when negotiating the terms of the other debates.

She's following Biden's successful strategy from 2020 - hide away from prying eyes and let Trump immolate himself.
It may not be a bad strategy. See how many people Trump can annoy between now and 11/5 and meanwhile keep your head low.

Likely - this election will boil down to the 1st debate between the two candidates. If Trump redoes his 2020 first debate (Arsehole Unlimited); then, Harris has a good shot.
If Harris babbles her way through multiple questions and is thrown off by Trump then he will likely take the prize.

I agree that's the strategy, but I don't think it's a good one. Biden held a 9 point lead in polls at the first of August 2020 and then we saw that lead whittle down and all but evaporate by Election Day. Yeh, Biden won, but it was within one percentage point of the vote in 4 battleground states that decided the election and Biden barely won the popular as well relative to the 9% lead he held in polls in summer 2020. Hillary followed a somewhat similar strategy and her big summer lead in 2016 evaporated by November and she lost.

In this case, let's give Kamala a 2 point lead nationally right now, if we blend polls. Questionable she would even win if the election were held today due to the EC, but in either case, she doesn't have the cushion of support Biden and Hillary had at this stage. Couple that with the fact she's not nearly as strong a candidate. Biden and Hillary were household names, compared to Kamala. That makes her susceptible to sharp declines in her support with a misstep or two. Which again, is why she's being held more tightly in bubble wrap than even Biden was.

I hope she doubles down on the strategy. Remember, the same people devising this strategy are the ones who thought it was a good idea to push Biden to the top of the ticket earlier this year, despite knowing his mental acuity was in sharp decline. At the same time, I must confess, the current Kamala strategy is the only one that could potentially work. It just won't.

Who cares? The fact that Donald Trump is running neck and neck with anybody for the presidency tells me there isn't much hope for this country. Even if Trump loses, his base will still be there, fully and proudly exposed, with plenty of room to expand (those independents today who just can't decide whether to vote for Trump or to vote for anyone with a shred of decency). The stage has been set for the next Trump, who, unlike this one, will be relatively sane and competent, able to accomplish, that is, destroy, what the present Trump is too much of a self-defeating buffoon to do despite all his willing helpers. It's just a question of who the next Trump will be. But half the country (so far) is hungry for him and will greet him with open arms.

Haven't you heard? Those crowds are faked by Artificial Intelligence. So says Donald Trump, who knows something about intelligence. (To have and have not.)

Again, when has the guy not shown up? He's everywhere. He gives interviews every day. He has multiple rallies a week. He is very accessible. Funny how Kamala has not spoken to the press in like 3 weeks. She is inaccessible. Very similar to Joe hiding in the basement. Even the Guardian calls her out and shares she is not strong with questions on the fly. She is going to need those questions in advance at the debates or look like a fool.

She's running a winning campaign so enjoy from the cheap seats. There are 90 days to the election which is plenty of time to sit down with Barbara Walters when she is done charming the country in rallies.

Multiple rallies? Not including the RNC other than than a small rally in Montana Trump hasn't held a rally since the attempted assassination. Although I'm sure that you haven't seen any she actually has held small impromptu question and answer sessions with the press after some of her rallies. She didn't have the questions in advance and her responses were sane and rational unlike Trump's had his recent press conferences in which he addressed compelling issues like crowd size. While the Q and A sessions only lasted a minute or two she wasn't avoiding the press.

Like her candidacy itself when she does start holding formal press conferences as far supporters the former president are concerned it will be another case of being careful what you wish for. The media will undoubtedly contrast her press conference(s) with those of the Donald and it will not look good for Trump.

We're coming up on a month from when Obama and Harris executed the coup. No interviews. She's campaigning to be the Hider-in-Chief.

Doesnt he literally have no rallies planned until the end of the month? JD Vance has been doing more campaigning.

And yet she has held multiple rallies drawing well over 10,000 and in Arizona and Nevada supporters had to be turnedd away. Not too bad for the "Hider-in-Chief".
