This is too funny. The media calls it right down the middle, right everyone...

The difference is that the Harris proposal would be limited to workers in service and hospitality occupations. Trump's proposal is so broad the high income workers could reclassify their compensation as tips. There is a difference.

    Things to ignore:

    1. The lamestream media, always. If they are saying it, always believe the opposite.

    2. All polls until after Labor Day. There has been entirely too much turdish behavior by the Non-Democratic Party for people to have developed informed decisions.

Wow, didn't think the spin would be this ridiculous, but sure, go with that line of thinking...

The best course might be to invest in really high quality printing presses.

Nearly by definition anyone receiving tips is going to be in a service industry.

Seems to me the real abuse you would need to watch out for would people who are in service occupations, but very well-compensated ones (i.e. professional services). Putting other legalities and ethical issues aside, I suppose you can imagine a hypothetical where an accounting, or engineering, or law firm, etc. reduces their hourly rates but adds on a mandatory gratuity that they then try to pass through as tax-free income. But it’s tougher to imagine a scenario where, for example, there’s any coherent way to claim that executive pay is actually tips.

It depends on how the statute is framed. It seems to me that it wouldn't be very difficult to cap the amount of the exclusion for tips ensuring that the primary beneficiaries are lower income taxpayers in service occupations.

I think it's hilarious that most just accept the blatant hypocrisy from the MSM like "of course they do it". Won't make me vote for trump at all but it is so ridiculous how they cover the left vs the right.
