Usually when someone posterizes a player, it's a dunk. Steph managed to posterize a 7'4" player on a three pointer.
Shooting guard is a stacked position, how are you going to start Curry over Jordan? And he isn't a point guard, so he can't start there either. But yes to greatest shooter ever. Has 5 of the top 6 seasons, and a bunch of other seasons in the top 25.
He is a PG, though. There are some official sources that don’t distinguish between PG and SG and list either type as just “guard”, but there is nowhere that officially lists him as a SG. Steph is definitely not a SG, no matter what some fans may think he is. On the Warriors, is Klay the PG? Draymond? No, it’s Steph. Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors Point Guard - ESPN
What is a point guard in the NBA? Did the Bulls during their championship seasons have a point guard when they ran a triangle offense? Kerr was never a traditional PG. His first job was to bring the ball up the floor and then his second job was to space the floor looking for an open 3 point shot. Pippen was a bigger initiator of the half court offense. Was he a point guard? Going way back when Walton was playing great for Portland the offense ran through him in the high post. He was the initiator of the offense. Was he a point guard? There have been lots of pure point guards in the NBA, John Stockton was a pure PG. So was Steve Nash and when he didn't have to play center in the Finals Magic Johnson was one. They exist. Steph Curry is a modern day Jerry West. A guard that can do it all.
I mean, do we know if that shot went in?!?! AND, the only people that think Steph is not a PG are small forwards, PF's and Centers.
In a discussion of the photo, someone (I forget who) mentioned on tv that the shot did go in. But I haven't independently verified that.
I dunno but the last shot he made (I think) was very covered and he shot it thru the rafters. I was watching thinking that’s not a good look yet it went in. It was one of the most amazing shots I’ve ever seen not to even mention the situation it came in. When he gets it going, like last night, it’s like he wills it to go in.
Third on the team in assists, but first in turnovers. If he is a point guard, he isn't a very good one. He is one of the best shooters of all time. But he isn't consistently the one bringing the ball up the court, and he does a lot of catch and shoot. Maybe the best off-ball point guard of all time?
Not under the current style of play....The game would have to evolve back to a more "traditional" style of play for anyone to even sniff Stockton's assist total. Not to mention that Stockton played all 82 games like 17 seasons (something like that)....
Not a chance. Chris Paul is the best pure point guard since Stockton, and he would need to play another 6 or 7 years to catch him. And no one else is anywhere close to Stockton.
