I understand that we have a lot of bodies, but Boireau, Robinson and Brown aren't ready to play a role this year. Collins and Taylor are situational players. Watson can't play against up tempo teams. That leaves us 3 with one who hasn't played against P5 before. If one of those 3 is hurt, we are in deep hurt.

What do you think caused that INT?

TN's horrible qb holding onto the ball too long and making a very bad decision.

The last three you mentioned aren’t going to play unless it’s just when we are way ahead or way behind and Lyons was probably our best pass rusher from the inside spot. I hope I’m wrong and one of the other guys shows they can bull Rush inside and disrupt. I’m not sayin Lyons is better than Jackson or Banks but He has a certain skill set that I haven’t seen others show with regards to the way he can disrupt. His first step is pretty impressive.

Exactly exactly what I’m talking about that interior push that not many other guys can show. He was pretty special in that regard or was at least going to be able to show that he was pretty special.

Jamari Lyons was part of that “pretty good depth” at NT. Watson is still severely overweight, so it’s a blow for sure.

We really can’t afford anymore injuries on the DL, especially on the interior. Hopefully this is the only one before the season starts.

Do we know how serious? Hopefully he can get back some time during the season.

This is what I have been saying about him since high school. He just needed physical development. Never understood why he wasn't a high 4 star recruit. Dave Waters had him as his most likely to breakout this year and be talked about. Big loss.

Just like how Boone was getting that talk last year before his injury. It just doesn't end with us. And yes I'm being a big whiny baby right now haha

Ouch. These guys embrace difficulties and physical hardship that most people can't fathom. Some hit the NFL jackpot, but most will not but still pay a real price in pain and possible disability for the sake of playing UF FB. I had a severe break about 45 YA, and in the last decade or so I feel it almost every night. We really need to talk about these players with more respect and appreciation. JMHO.

Watson has lost a ton of weight. It's not being reported officially but he looks a lot leaner in photos and quicker in video clips. He looks about 400 pounds now.

Banks will move inside, then we're back to three-deep at NT.

He does look better. People will still criticize his weight but he's a warrior. And reportedly one of the smartest players. If he's gained any more strength and stamina we may see him quite a bit.

It was just reported on July 24th that he was down to 447 lbs from 462 during spring ball.
So there is no way he has lost 40 lbs in 3 weeks.

DL Desmond Watson: 462 to 447

That was before two-a-days. From the photos I've seen, I'm guessing he's closer to 420. We probably won't see his actual weight this year but we'll see how he plays.

My great grandmother used to say that mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow. Now if we can just whittle that girth down some without chopping down the tree...

I'm saying if he has lost some fat and added some muscle he could be a key contributor. We know on running plays he helps. Dude is a beast.

I wouldn’t say you are wrong, but your take is definitely pessimistic. I doubt boireau, Robinson or brown play a big role, but I could see one of them playing a role. I think Collins could be much more than a situational player. Heck, the dude is one of our top recruits in recent years. Taylor is a wildcard but i think he can be similar to lyons. If Watson (and Co.) can get some 3 and outs he can play against anyone.

I just think it’s unrealistic to believe we should have a proven 3 deep and not expect any injuries. I think one thing Napier quietly has done is improve depth. But I’m also an optimist!

Yes, but then we are playing a guy too slight at the other DT in order to not have another Dexter situation of having too many snaps and being ineffective in the second half.
