How many of those 8+ win teams had a schedule as tough as the 2024 regular season schedule? Looking just at the P5 opponents: 2020: 50-54 (.481) - Florida went 8-2 2019: 77-53 (.592) - Florida went 8-2 2018: 70-46 (.603) - Florida went 6-3 2016: 65-50 (.565) - Florida went 6-3 2015: 65-54 (.546) - Florida went 7-2 Based on last year's W/L record: 2024: 100-45 (.690) Of course, this is not to say these opponents will be as good or great as last year (FSU in particular), but it is also possible that several teams will be better than last year (Miami, Texas A&M and LSU in particular) than they were last year. Never underestimate your opponent or overestimate yourself...
If you're happy with 6 and 7 win seasons, more power to you. I just want more. We haven't won more than 6 games in 3 years.
Man this is one time I disagree with you. We didn't play "well" last year and lost a few close games. We play well this year we win games. Talent is often subjective but I don't think it's wishful thinking to say we have upgraded through additions and experience across multiple positions including coaching staff. If we believe in a coach's ability then at some point you have to win games and schedule be damned. I think 8 games is reasonable IF you believe the team is improved. Don't care who we are playing
Yes he does. He says nobody has low expectations. I’m asking him his expectations. It sounds it’s a win for him if the team tries hard, has fun, and stays hydrated.
I believe we can win eight or nine games yet the games have to be played and those other teams have kids on schollys and coaches making millions too. It’s going to be a dogfight almost every week and both teams need em just as bad as we do. We have improved our talent no doubt but so has most of our schedule. It’s going to be some tense shit every week. lsu, Tenn, A&M, fsu, Miami, Kentucky, ole Miss.. those are the difference between 4 and 10 wins. We could beat every one of them but we will be dogs every game unless we beat the first few
Don't doubt any of that. But that has been true for every year. You either win your games or you don't. That's all. I was extremely forgiving the past two years because our deficiencies were obvious. Even still, I didn't place all the blame on the roster because there are ways to mitigate deficiencies and I don't believe some of our methods facilitated that. With that said, I've seen Billy evolve and I think we don't have any excuses this year save for 2 games and possibly a third with ole miss. Our schedule will never be easy and either we become the hunter or we stay the hunted.
I’m guessing going 500 against those teams that I listed would be about all that could really be expected. Keyword is expected. Sure we could win eight or nine games but we could also lose eight or nine games also
It's all speculation but if we can't beat fsu with all they lost, lsu that was mediocre with a Heisman, aTm with a brand new coach, Miami with a coach we mock and ucf at home then how have we improved? Tennessee is a 50/50 at this point and the Georgia/Texas are expected losses.
It’s hard to say how good those teams will be. They could all be top ten or all have five losses. Now if the all have five losses and beat us, we have a big problem. Just too much speculation for me to have a read on those teams. It’s not just us but how tough is our schedule really.
Again, this is all speculation. It's all preseason banter. But speculating based on what we know about turnover and coaching, Gator fans here are acting like we are facing an NFL schedule. These teams we are facing sound daunting because of reputation but looking at the details, many have lost a lot. That's all
Yep, my expectations are wide open. I’m definitely holding hope for eight or nine wins and ending the season whipping the clowns asses.
