Am I going to be on the road three weeks from tomorrow? I’m not very good at counting, but I’m getting excited.

we get them in late November and I hear they have no depth, injuries could be a problem by then

Imagine we look good against Miami. Win by 7+, but also look solid in all 3 phases.

I bet we'd suddenly be favored to win (or basically even) every game until Georgia. That's 7 games. We'd probably be favored or even for LSU and FSU. All because of one game's performance.

We could wind up with 4.5 wins. But maybe he's right, and we're a step up, even beyond the increased schedule difficulty. I'll buy it. I think the OL might just get the job done.

    Could happen.

We will win more than 5 this season, no doubt. Beat miami and we would be favored to play georgia 5-2 or better. Big game!

All the position groups look strong in camp. I haven't seen a ton of Oline drills but doubt they're behind any other group in conditioning or sharpness.

I like the early schedule setup and could be lossless coming off a bye week to face UCF at night... smells like a Swamp beat down. With soaring confidence we arrive in Knoxville with purpose. Arrive in Jax a complete team. After that anything can happen but it'll be a grind, especially with any attrition.

You forgot aTm. Easy peasy wins actually.

aTm: run to Scooby's and Hill's side at will

Ole Miss: run to Princely's side at will.

    UCF: run anywhere every play

It's the D secondary that is going to be the problem IMO. Again.

Completely agree, and one of the reasons I say that even a six win season is an acceptable level of improvement.

Sure, more wins would be better, but a stable foundation for continued improvement is what really matter.

Potential recruits needs to have some confidence in the stability of the leadership.

Not trying to be argumentative, but why? We've got lots of blue-chip talent and experience with depth we haven't seen in years, plus a dynamic new pos coach who seems to be off to a strong start. Seriously, what's bothering you about that group in particular aside from the customary unknowns that exist in any preseason? We all know they have to mature and improve significantly, what makes you think they can't or won't? Just asking.

Just based on history and the fact that we don't seem to have a tremendous amount of speed back there or experienced 5 star talent FTM. And we've had supposedly dynamic position coaches there before and still looked bad. When the secondary looks good, then I will believe it. Hopefully, I will be proven wrong.

Thanks for the amplification. I understand your point of view without sharing it. I personally think you're selling the talent and the depth more than a bit short. And the new pos coach deserves a chance to show what he can do before dumping on him out of habit. You could be right, but I'll withhold judgement until we see what's what. We'll find out soon enough.

Expecting to see a better secondary. Hopefully we have some difference makers in the secondary this year. As well as other spots on Defense.

    Expecting suckage is weird.

Well, we all hope our secondary isn't required to hold their coverage for ten seconds a play. Pass rush, pressure, front seven!

I'm just tired of being burned psychologically. For the last 3 years I thought the secondary would be better than the year before. And while it may have been last year, it wasn't substantially. Unlike you, until they actually show it on the field, I'm going to assume it's at best no better.
