“When Tim Walz was asked by his country to go to Iraq, do you know what he did? He dropped out of the Army and allowed his unit to go without him — a fact that he’s been criticized for aggressively by a lot of the people that he served with,” Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate and a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, said Wednesday at a news conference in Michigan. “I think it’s shameful to prepare your unit to go to Iraq, to make a promise that you’re going to follow through, and then to drop out right before you actually have to go,” Vance added. The strategy, which Trump amplified Wednesday by calling Walz a “DISGRACE” in a Truth Social post, is a throwback to 2004, when Republicans attacked Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry’s record as a Navy officer in Vietnam. Chris LaCivita — who served as a consultant to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth group that helped sink Kerry’s bid — is a senior adviser to Trump’s campaign and has signaled an eagerness to reopen the playbook on Walz. https://apple.news/A0WyqSYxkQfG-fM7yDDYLTg
Walz had 24 years of honorable service. And retired so he could serve in another way as he ran for Senate. If anyone thinks 24 years of service in the military/reserves is something you can attack, have at it.
If the reports are true, this will not end well for him. He’s now going to debate an actual veteran. Not a good look.
I guess 24 yrs wasn't enough. Geez . . . the guy moved on in order to serve his constituents as a state senator. This weak attack . . .
Also that he lied about serving in a combat role. He claimed that he did and those quoted in the article claim that he didn’t. If it turns out that he lied about it, the criticism is justified.
Guy claimed on multiple occasions on video that he was deployed to active combat theatres. Also claimed he carried a weapon of way in a war. His own bio says he retired command sergeant major. None of the those are accurate no way holder missed all this during the vetting. Makes you wonder why him over Shapiro
don’t care either way. Interesting thing to me is no way E holder missed this stuff. Just makes you wonder why they picked Him over Shapiro
Shapiro is Jewish and would have hurt Kamala in Michigan with the heavy Palestinian and Arab presence there. Plus, he’s Jewish..
"This stuff?" Notice nobody actually defines what "this stuff" actually is. That is the tell that everybody here is trying to create an issue out of nothing. That is why I said this reeks of desperation. The people who have gotten scarce suddenly showed up here again trying super hard to push this. I doubt your interest is really about internal vetting procedures.
If you’re interested in the truth (questionable) here is some info from the Minnesota National Guard. Verify: Questions raised about Walz’s military record | kare11.com Relevant passage: In an email they confirmed Walz retired in May 2005 – two months before his unit, the 1-125 field artillery battalion received an alert order on July 14, 2005. The unit’s mobilization order came on August 14, 2005. Y’all need to quit being so gullible. In addition JD has got some nerve seeing as he wasn’t in combat either (most don’t serve in combat) He was in a PR unit.
Walz put in 24 years and was honorably discharged. That's 24 years more than Capt. Bone Spurs and 20 more than Vance, who only did one tour. Nothing wrong with Vance's service, but disparaging anyone who puts in 20+? Not for me, and after 20, anyone reserves the right to retire when they please in my book.
