Agree. The author of this book has known trump for 50+ years and played golf with him many, many times. He wrote about it.

Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains TrumpAmazon.comhttps://www.amazon.com › Commander-Cheat-Golf-Ex...
It amazed me when the author explained that Donald doesn't think anything at all about blatant cheating and can't see anything wrong with it. After reading this book, it is obvious why he cheats in everything else too. The author explains why he has a penchant to cheat from when he even started out in life, from little on up to the bragging adult of today. His claims about winning so many golf championships are disgusting, once you learn what he does to claim that he won so many - anybody could do the same, once they know how. But where is the shame? NOT one of Trump's traits, that's for sure

Have you ever won a tournament you never competed in? Have you ever stolen the ball from an opponent to gain a competitive advantage?

If the answer to either or both of those questions is no, then you’re not cheating at the highest level. Which is to say, you’re not cheating like President Donald Trump.

In a 2019 book, Commander in Cheat, sportswriter Rick Reilly explores Trump’s complicated relationship with the game of golf, and shows the near-heroic efforts he makes to lie about his scores, sabotage his opponents, and generally defraud the sport.

    https://www.golfdigest.com/story/10...k-detailing-president-trumps-cheating-at-golf

Caddies have an interesting nickname for Trump
That nickname would be "Pele." The moniker came from loopers at Winged Foot who got so used to Trump kicking his ball from the rough into the fairway.

    He's generous with gimmes
Trump might be a conservative. But when it comes to conceding putts, he's as liberal as it gets.
A putt is generally considered good if it's "inside the leather"—i.e., within a foot of the cup. What constitutes a gimme is slightly different in Trump's world, routinely giving others—and himself—10-footers. Reilly even asserts he once saw Trump give himself a chip-in.

He messes with his opponents' games
Reilly says that Trump will do whatever it takes to win a match. One time, that included interfering with sportscaster Mike Tirico's ball. Tirico hit what he thought was the shot of his life into a par 5, only to find his ball in a sand trap. After the round, Tirico discovered how it got there.

“Trump’s caddy came up to me and said, ‘You know that shot you hit on the par 5?’ ” Tirico said. “ ‘It was about 10 feet from the hole. Trump threw it in the bunker. I watched him do it.’ ”

Pros say Trump's handicap is baloney

Trump boasts a 2.8 handicap, a figure that signals the type of stick that could make a run at a club championship.
    It's also a figure that's been called B.S.

Former tour player and current FOX broadcaster Brad Faxon, a supporter and frequent partner of Trump's, called the president "a legit 10." LPGA Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam echoed those sentiments, calling Trump "a 9 or 10," as did Ernie Els ("an 8 or a 9").

Also odd: Despite making 165 visits to golf courses during his presidency, he's posted just one round on the USGA's GHIN service. There was a second round—Trump allegedly shot a 68 in October 2017—but he soon deleted it.

Trump doesn't always pay his bills

Reilly writes that Andrew Tesoro, who designed the clubhouse at Trump Westchester, was owed more than $141,000. The book details that when he went to Trump's lawyers, Tesoro claims they said he could sue, but he would be tied up in court for a decade and might not get paid. Tesoro, then a fledging architect, couldn't afford to do that. In that end, he received just $25,000.

Trump, according to Reilly, also tried to get out of repaying $200,000 club fees he owed members at Trump National in Jupiter, failed to pay overtime to waiters and staff at Doral (anywhere from $800 to $3,000 each) as well as a painter for a Doral renovation. Trump even tried to get out of paying a $1 million hole-in-one contest he offered, claiming the yardage was wrong, according to Reilly.

Does Trump play by the rules of golf when playing a casual round. Not always, for sure. In a tournament no

As John Daly and others will tell you. BILL Clinton is the ultimate rule breaker but I don't have a problem with anyone playing a mulligan, improving a lie. Etc in a casual round.

Kai Trump has a 0 handicap and says her matchs with grandpa Trump often come down to the wire. Here's her swing which is impressive:

    "Does trump cheat?"

"Does Trump play by the rules of golf when playing a casual round. Not always, for sure."

I assume your response means 'yes', he cheats. Why use 17 words when one will do?

Do you think he cheats against Kai as well? After all, he's cheated on other family members. And banks, insurance companies, charities, students, contractors, tenants, investors, donators, consumers and partners. Tell me again how being a 10 handicap changes that.

I think you asked if there is a downside to cults of personality. I didn't read the book "Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," but one downside to Obama's assault on democracy is that it helped turm America into a cross between the USSR and a banana republic.

    Any more quesrions?

Why shift the focus from the general concept of cults of personality to a specific critique of Obama's policies, which is not directly related to the question? Can't you address the broader implications without a partisan attack?

It's puzzling that you claim 'Obama's assault on democracy turned America into a cross between the USSR and a banana republic' without having read the book you mentioned or providing specifics. The characteristics of these two types of states are quite different and not easily reconcilable. Truly a contradictory comparison. Making such a claim seems to be hyperbole. It is also curious that you would pose a disputable anecdote as a conclusion to such an important and potentially democracy-ending topic. That is quite weird.

I believe this type of worship leads to the polarization of our citizens. It shifts focus away from our democratic processes and may also suppress dissent. We see this when other GOP leaders lose their spines when asked to criticize a leader's policies or actions.

More relevant to this forum, it impedes constructive dialogue on current issues. I am sure you agree.

Trump is not a cult leader or an anti-American authoritarian like Obama.

Former DNC Vice Chair Tulsi Gabbard believes that the "save our democracy" Democrats are actually assaulting our democracy and taking away our freedoms.

Giving me someone else's opinion is not a great counter argument and is low effort.

This should be fun... what evidence or criteria would you accept that there was a political cult of personality around obama? May I apply the same standards to evaluating trumpism? Pretty please?

Your comments are off-topic and the subject matter is boring to me so this is my last response to this line of questioning.

Cult leaders have views that are outside of mainstream societal views and they often do harm to their followers. When 1 or 2 of your parents are foreign-born and you are largely raised outside the US it is not surprising that you're not very American, as is the case with Obama and Kamala. Both.are Marxists. Both believe in authoritarian governance and lawfare. Neither is a big supporter of free speech
Trump is a populist with traditional mainstream values.

Cult leaders do harm. Democrat cult followers believe it's okay to cut off the breasts of gender confused girls and give them male hormones. BLM and depolicing killed 25 000 blacks as murders and traffic fatalities skyrocketed after George Floyd's death. Mass illegal immigration weakens our country and harms the people within.

A few weeks ago Kamala Harris was almost universally disliked. Note how quickly the cult followers switched to loving her candidacy, acting in unison like a flock of birds changing direction. The cult followers were told to deploy the word "weird" and responded in unison.

MAGA believes in education. Obama cultists believe in indoctrination.

AI algorithms are being used by.our gov't to elect Democrats per Mike Benz.

Easy to see who are the true cult leaders and cult followers. The same people who have turned our country into the USSR. Show trials for Trump, gulag for his supporters.

I reject your response on multiple levels. You do not seem to understand the question nor characteristics of political cult of personality. Your attempt to answer with broad and unsupported assertions of partisan malfeasance highlight this.

Let me help you: What Is a Cult of Personality?

If a friend was unaware they were in a cult, would you tell them?

To NK’s citizens’ defense, they are literally scared of being arrested or worse for disagreeing with Dear Leader. In the US we don’t have that problem. Just look at thfsg. But trump is blindly followed and believed because much of maga is cult.

    Golfweek:

“Back in August, the former president claimed to have shot a 67 on that track. Two weeks earlier, a the same course hosted a tournament for Saudi-backed LIV golf. Trump’s claimed 67 would have beaten 47 of the 48 pros in the final round.”

Former White House aide says Donald Trump beat two pro golfers

I'm sure the pros played from the back tees, Trump from the white tees LB8g difference, Potentially.

DeChambeau-5rump shot the same score as DeChambeau-Sergio Garcia. 50.

If you watch the video in post #1 you'll see in a 4 hole span Trump got a solo birdie and a solo eagle That means all of the shots on those 2 holes were hit by Trump. He hit a drive on a par 4 to 4 feet. Trump can play.

Edit Trump's 4 hole stretch where he gets solo birdie solo eagle happens between 29 and 39 minutes on the video ilinked in post #1
