Harris Faces Party Divisions as She Chooses a Running Mate Party liberals as usual doing their best to sink the ship complaining that Shapiro and Kelly are too conservative for their tastes.
Kamala is already having to backtrack her most liberal positions and these geniuses think the play is to select a more liberal VP?
Made up story. Mostly unnamed and then the 3 people/groups they named either had a specific gripe (Fetterman vs Shapiro), a Minn PAC that supports Minnesotan Waltz, and a Islamic group that doesnt like Shapiro. No story there.
Looks like she is sticking with the plan to make Philly her first appearance with her VP pick, tomorrow. Not sure if she is going to preannounce or "surprise" us. I just hope if it's anyone other Shapiro he doesn't get booed off the stage. This is Philly we are talking about ...
“Whether it was from my time in the Navy and at NASA, serving in the United States Senate, or visiting our troops overseas: I’ve learned that when your country asks you to serve, you always answer the call.” Mark Kelly tweet yesterday raises speculation ...
Ha. I feel like since she is announcing tomorrow it is narrowed down to one of them already, but who knows?
At least it’s not Kelly, he would have been a disastrous choice. People were getting all swept up in the fact that he’s an astronaut to ignore all the flaws he has. Shapiro has them as well which I would hope that means it’s Walz, but Shapiro would be better than Kelly.
Why? Grandfather effect? Seems to have a solid resume, but pretty much an unknown gov leading a state that she should win no matter the VP and looks older than his age imo. That said, most anybody but Pete is a winner for me.
Watched a few videos of him, that’s really all I know about him, very likable personality and great speaker.
Stood and clapped for Netanyahu during his speech, and is a conservative corporate democrat who has no real progressive policies as well as being pro labor and anti-union. He’s just not the type of guy that moves the needle at all, especially with working class families and young people. The UAW is vehemently against him as well.
Agree but considering the alternative they're still going to turn out and vote for Harris. They should probably be reminded of what happened in 2016 when they were so pissed off over the way that Bernie Sanders was treated that they stayed home or voted third party (Jill Stein) and a Trump presidency post 2024 will be far worse than the Trump presidency post 2016.
Thanks. I get it. If you're a progressive he's not your guy. He's also not a great speaker/attack dog but for me he balances Harris liberal reputation a bit. Also, his military/astronaut status is big for many independents and he can talk about the border with some cred. Doesn't matter tho, our opinion doesn't count.
