He accepted the ABC debate with Joe Biden. Different candidate.

Yup. Renege on something already agreed to. That's Trump's "Art of the Deal."

Different candidate but still his opponent in the November election. He agreed to debate the probable Democratic nominee. He like almost everyone else assumed that it would be Joe Biden. Now that's it's not Biden he's backing out.

Harris should still show up to the ABC debate and use the full time to address America

Why does the different candidate matter? Confident that he would out debate Biden and not confident vs Harris?? Just curious as to the logic here.

I ask although I dont really care if they debate at all at this point.

I do wish the pubs would do the same, but to say it was out of boldness is far fetched. Boldness would be having done it when they first knew he was diminished regardless of the debate. The debate forced their hand. Boldness is the opposite.

The dems broke the terms, not the pubs.

The debate agreed to was Trump v Biden. The dems pulled out of that.
    That much is not...ahem...debatable. ;)

The dems convinced Biden not to run - out of fear, concern, and the belief that he's not physically and mentally capable of serving for four more years.

Trumph is being a wuss about debating Harris.

You: "Exactly what you just did." Once again, logic fail.

Think rematches in sports. Think boxing. If you already won, you may not want the rematch.
So much less to gain for the previous winner, and little to lose for the previous loser.

In this debate season, Trump (through no real effort of his own) sent the dems realing.

That is what the voters remember.

Strategically, why give the voters a chance to erase that memory?

LOL. How so. It is 100% accurate. The next debate was ink'd. The democrats backed out when they...um...well...backed out.

    How is this twisting?

Yes. Very bold move to pull your pitcher in the 8th inning after he gave up 6 earned runs and blew a 5 run lead. Very bold.

The candidates should have left it in the hands of the Commission on Presidential Debates. That was not done this year.

https://www.loc.gov/item/lcwaN0011502/#:~:text=The Commission on Presidential Debates, part of the electoral process.
    • The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) was established in 1987 to ensure, for the benefit of the American electorate, that general election debates between or among the leading candidates for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States are a permanent part of the electoral process.

    • In 2024, the campaigns of the major-party presumptive presidential candidates, Democraticincumbent Joe Biden and Republican former president Donald Trump, circumvented the CPD and committed to two debates outside the CPD's purview.
