Let's imagine... 1. UF loses only 1 game in 2024. Pick who you'd "Prefer" to lose to. 2. UF loses only 2 games in 2024. Pick who you'd "Prefer" to lose 2 to. I have my choices. Give me yours.
For 1 loss....Miss State. For 2 losses....maybe Miss St and Ole Miss, but that makes SEC record 6-2. So maybe Miss St and who? Not Miami, not fsu, not Ucf....???
Ole Miss and Mississippi State would be two losses we could overcome because Miss. State is a road game early in the season and Ole Miss, barring unforeseen circumstances, will be highly ranked. I would say a close loss to Georgia would be forgiven in polls if we were to run the table after that but, I couldn’t bring myself to say I would prefer losing to them ever and under any circumstances.
We no longer have East/West divisions in the SEC. And if we lose to Miss Stake, Billy will likely be 2-15 away from the Swamp in 3 years.
That would leave us with the highest possible two loss ranking... especially if they were close losses.
6-2 in the SEC should get you in the playoffs if you won the others. Been thinking about the scheduling for the SEC going forward. Since there aren't any divisions, what does everyone think about having your schedule based on how you performed in the SEC the previous season? So in this case, UGAG or Bama would have toughest schedules and Vandy would have the easiest.
— I just want the schedule to be fair. Pick a rotation and stick to it. There is no reason for us to have played three times at Texas A&M, while UGA has yet to play there. It makes no sense.
Wow, really? I literally learned that from you about the confetences. That sucks! How did I not know this. I’m totally serious. Wow
They allegedly did that with this year's schedule right? Traditional powers got tougher schedules than not. So UF got stuck with our schedule, meaning we were in the consideration for traditional power. Mizzou got a cake schedule in comparison. Honestly though, no SEC schedule will be easy going forward, I don't think UFs schedule would be awful if we were playing UAB and FAU instead of Miami and UCF. I guess what hurts as a lifelong gator fan, 36 years, if we were at our Spurrier or Meyer level we would all be pumped about the schedule. UGA isn't talking about their schedule being too tough, but it's because they're a top 5 team and they don't have the non conference schedule we have with the exception being Clemson. To answer your question though, it sounds like you want an NFL type schedule based on the previous year and I'd be all for it, unfortunately I'm not sure how much different it would be. Maybe we get vandy instead of ole miss, Auburn instead of Texas?
I'll take losing the Conference & National Championship games. Means we win 12 in the regular season and 1 playoff game, and we're back on the national level, and a top 3 or 4 finish.
Yeah, more like the NFL scheduling but they still have divisions which means you can't duck all the difficult teams. I'm just looking for more parity based on how you did the previous year. Then if you do well with that schedule, it gets harder the next year. I don't think we should duck UGAG, but maybe we add a S. Carolina instead of TX or LSU. FSU and the non conference complicates that though. The 12 team playoff was supposed to eliminate teams doing soft schedules. Hasn't worked out that way though (with some exceptions).
