Continuing to learn about Florida football as my out-of-stater-Gator and favorite daughter starts her Junior year down there in Gainesville! For off-season discussion and entertainment purposes only, here is my question: Who are Florida's top-3 rivals, and why are they rivals? I mean the first one is easy, right? It's gotta be Florida State! Or, is it Georgia? But I'm really interested in who is 3rd after these two, and why. Thanks in advance for bringing me up to speed.
For me our biggest, most important rival will always be Georgia. Been playing them since 1906 and they are in the same conference as us. That said: FSU is the team I despise the most.
Georgia FSU Big drop to Miami or Tennessee Honorable mention LSU because their fans are so nasty and we have played them every year for about as long as I can remember going back to the 70’s.
Of some significance is that it does vary between sports. You seem to be asking about football only, but just for extra information UGA is not really a big basketball rival. Our biggest basketball rivals are UK, Tenn, FSU, and LSU, with Bama and Arky creeping up lately.
Congratulations and welcome to the board. FYI, Florida has more intense rivalries than any other school out there. Georgia and ref$u always - every year. But in our glory years of the 90s, the SEC Championship (and subsequently the route to the national championship) was often dependent upon the Florida - Tennessee game. And in-state rival Miami has always hated our guts. Our cross-conference rival every single stinking year is LSU. For us old guys, Florida vs. Auburn had a rich and often painful history. side note: ask an Ohio State fan who they hate the most and after Michigan many will say The University of Florida — we’ve destroyed their national championship hopes in both Football and Basketball It’s worth noting that this year, last year, and many other years along the way, Florida faces the toughest schedule in the nation. It makes for some disappointing seasons at times (including recently), but some amazing moments as well. Visit the Heavener complex in the SW corner of The Swamp and acquaint yourself with the heights of what Florida football has achieved, and are building toward again as we speak. Go Gators

Back in the 1970's and 1980's it used to be UGa, UM, and FSU in that order. Now its UGa, FSU, and UM/Tenn since we haven't played UM annually since 1987. Nobody considered UT an arch-rival until the SEC switched to divisions in 1990 but its been real nice owning that program since that time.
What makes it difficult to rank is that I feel we have more rivals than most teams. By that I mean, if you ask who you hate more, the majority will say UF. Same with UGAG. Miami will be a split between us and half ass u. Most TN fans will say Bama, but a close second will be UF. Probably the only SEC teams that don't have us on their hate radar is ARky and the Mississippi schools, and maybe Vandy.

leg humpers f$uck slUT I've been to 4 LSU games in BR and never experienced a bad fan encounter. I haven't been to many other away games (only f$u, slUT, Syracuse), but a lot of WLOCP games and LSU fans are far and away the most hospital fans ever. I don't get the hate for them

That was due to the circumstances. No one wanted fsu to finish undefeated (well, except for 8 people, I guess). If they did we would never hear the end of it. Mythical national titles and all. I’m of the belief that UGA will always be our “biggest” and most important rival …but I just REALLY hate UFS. That program could never suffer enough for my liking. A hate their fans, I hate their stadium, I hate their wannabe fake Native American mascot, I hate their stupid chant, I just hate their existence.
