I've said that Napier missed on some of his wants for position coaches, and we saw the devastating effects of not being able to get the best coaches out there. I'm not here to blame anyone or the university for this, but it seems that I, like many people here, were right on that too. Not only that, but I posted as much on the Alex Ansolone on coach Napier thread, linked at the very bottom of this post, that some of you might have read.

Now we seem to be getting somewhere in the strength/conditioning and nutrition departments. Better now than never... But you know how that saying really goes.

I like who we have in both of those departments, and I do think we will be a tougher team for it. Talent alone is only one part of the equation... coaching and training in strength... and schemes on the field are vital to success in football too. So now we seem to have another piece of the puzzle.

The new defensive coaches will have to prove their worth in games, and that is the part we're all hoping Napier got right. From all articles that I've read, he seems to have upgraded that department as well, we'll see. He's taking small steps in the right direction, but they are adding up.

I like the new defensive position coaches Napier has added, they all know what's needed, and they are a major piece of the puzzle. It's kind of sad that Napier had to wait to get the right coaching staff assembled, but the competition for coaches is just as tough as the competition for talented players.

In the past, coaches (position coaches, especially) were lining up just to coach the Florida Gators... now Napier needs to remind other coaches out there that it's worth the wait to coach in Gainesville again. And that starts by winning again. Win and they will come.

So many missteps by BN which has resulted in where we are at with the S & C or the lack thereof being one of them. Like most I hope these past two years have been a learning experience and I'm hoping for brighter days ahead.

I hope our team hunger, chemistry, accountability and even anger has shown up in the weight room.

Opponents WR been bigger than our LB for a decade. Criminal neglect by several coaches. That is why it astounds me the that CBN whiffed on a few of the initial hires.

What’s so astounding about a new head coach having difficulty hiring a new staff to join him in resurrecting a program that’s been struggling for 10+ years and currently has a depleted roster with attitude problems?

    You must be easily astounded

Like seeing the recent history and repeating it…? I know, heresy. Just like never the former guys fault until he is gone ;)

The only thing I can say is that UF was a dumpster fire when Mullen was fired.
Unfortunately the hiring of Naper did not douse that fire.
In other words it took time to recover from that fire.
Last season and the current preseasn we have seen improvements due to Napier hires which looks to be improvements to all facets of the Gator program.
We will not know for sure until we get through the first two to three games of the upcoming season.

I'm a little confused by what appear to be conflicting statements: Do you believe we've seen improvements or are you not sure yet if we've had any?

I can’t tell if it’s Branson Robinson or Chandler Smith ( honestly it looks like Smith) , but I can say both are absolutely ripped.

Branson Robinson missed last year with a ruptured Patella tendon, so obviously being that heavily muscled doesn’t protect your knees. Smith was 7th at the CrossFit games.

    Sorry for the confusion.

We did see some improvements last season.
However, those improvements got lost in the fog of a lack of improvement (or even a regression) in other areas. In other words last season was a mixed bag of good items and bad items.

The first two or three games will let us know where Naper and the team is.

We will know soon enough with Miami coming in to the Swamp. Must win for CBN. Makes one look at Saban with admiration. He would lose assistants and hire even better ones.
