So, this is by far the best ranking the Gators have had this off season. https://thespun.com/college-football/espn-computers-top-25-rankings-heading-into-august

True enough. Fortunately, those rankings carry the same weight at this juncture they would have had they been inscribed in dry sand on a very windy day. Is it 8/31 yet?
I’m really hoping that we win a games and we are a top 15 or so team but like you say you never know. Miami might win the ACC and get a one seed you never know.
Preseason. It will be interesting to see SOS end of season. Several of the games we are considered likely to lose will be winnable because "on any given Saturday", and that some will not be as good as preseason hype. Hope that starts with scUM.
Not sure I'd call myself pessimistic, or realistic. Either way I'd prefer to find this season a pleasant surprise.
If you read all the "stuff" being written about the Gators, then anything over 6 wins will be earth-shattering pleasant. The defense holds the key to our success this year, and I see a huge improvement in every facet of the Gators' defense this off season. I saw it in the spring scrimmage game. I noticed open field tackling and several players getting to the ball and gang tacking. There was no more of that one guy doing all the work and everyone else watching, nonsense... ganging up together to get the ball carrier. That's a nice surprise. The line looked more disciplined and held their gap integrity... Now all they have to do is show that bull-rush in games, repeat it in every game this coming year. I like this new coaching staff, and I already see a difference in the players' attitude on the field. I have noticed a much more enthusiastic style of coaching from a new coaching staff, and it's rubbing off on the players. When players are having fun, that means they're not caught up trying to figure things out... they're not over thinking what to do. When it comes natural, they seem more comfortable on the field, and that leads to more fun playing football. That is no to say they are just playing around and that they are unserious, but the contrary. The game is slowing down to them, and that means they get it. I see that in the defense already. The new defensive coaches were one more piece of the puzzle that's been missing... now found.
Right or wrong this is a prediction based on an analysis of the GATORS team versus the teams they play. The Vegas line is based on splitting the betting equally and scarfing the vig.
Wow! #20 coming off a 5-7 season, gotta love that we're being noticed! And Michigan drops all the way from Champs to 12th!
