Interesting. Rather than discuss the merits vs drawbacks of some needed bipartisan reform you revert to meaningless rhetoric

38 states will never agree to this. (shaking head) It's an election year ploy to make it look like Biden is in charge when he is not.

    This proposal is DOA:

OK. So we don't have to hear any more about how Biden is a dictator then, correct? He's not even in charge.

Then why not let President be unlimited? See the issue? Congress is just a money making machine for these people. Nothing more. Both sides are in it for the money. Term limits along with strict trading laws would disenfranchise the money grab by these politicians and maybe they would focus on doing their job and not focusing on increasing their bank accounts. This is strictly bi-partisan. Both sides do this. Not complicated.

The current push for term limits seems to be coming from the left. Thus, the party that advocates, and has made this election all about protecting and preserving democracy (or whatever they believe that to mean), also wants to remove certain candidates from the ballot. Not saying removing a lot of dead wood may/may not have a positive result. Who knows? Just find the irony interesting.

Aside from that irony, I'm just old enough to view a lot of this nonsense for what it is - "young people" (actually including a lot of old folk who never recovered from puberty) complaining that they aren't getting their way right now. What was the movie? "Everyone over 30 years old should die."

No, Biden is absolutely an authoritarian in the way he allows access, no meeting with his cabinet since last October and all questions and requests must be in writing before being submitted to him. He started his lawfare against Trump when he still had some presence of mind. He declared 1/2 the country his enemy at Freedom Hall in Philadelphia and then proceeded to weaponize federal agencies to prosecute said war on Americans, some of which are political prisoners today. He wants to take over state national guards without compelling reasons, all governors opposed in writing. He is cramming the Green New Scam on the nation which is right out of the communist party handbook.

Not the topic of the thread, but, yes, Biden is a dictator, and his administration/democratic socialist communist party is a threat to the US Republic. That he even presents this pile of garbage proposal this late in his term, or at least whomever is speaking for him, continues to show he cares absolutely zero for the US Constitution and the separation of equal power in US Republic governance.

Everyone will nod their head. . . . then go back to arguing about subjective social issues. THIS is the problem. Complacency and willful ignorance.

Feel better now that you got that unhinged nonsense off your chest?

Meanwhile. . . parrots Chomsky whenever he discusses Ukraine, NATO, etc. or any corporation that isn't on his team.

What's it going to do about the revolving door to lobbying jobs? That's as much - if not a bigger issue than campaign contributions.

i.e. more pointless drivel from our top executive in the WH, whilst the Middle East unravels and Ukraine is a disaster. Why even waste anybody's time with this crap? Well, we know why. Gots to help Kamala, because heaven forbid she'd have a resume of accomplishments or policy initiatives that a majority of people agree on. Maybe if they snow us enough with this crap, we'll vote for her. So sick and tired of the BS.

That would take some reform for sure. It is a huge issue, just don't know how to combat it.

Let's see here. Biden was a U.S. senator for how long and he's proposing term limits for SCOTUS justices? Hmmmm... since Biden has been in national politics for over 50 years, surely he's proposed term limits on the SCOTUS before, right??

Doesn’t have the unique power that the President has and our forefathers knew we were suckers for autocrats. Thankfully Washington wasn’t anything like Trump.

I think the argument against is one of trusting democracy. If everyone really wants to elect a leader to a 5th term, why should we pass a law that stops ourselves from doing this? It’s like that memes that the right circulated regarding Colorado’s decision to remove Trump from the ballot.

Democrat States Save Democracy By Not Allowing People To Vote For Preferred Candidate

The presidency is an interesting exception. I think we ended up with the two term limit only because Washington chose not to run for a third term. He actually tried to step down after one term, and had he followed through, we might today have a law limiting presidents to only four years.

Quite ironic that an 81 year old geezer who long outstayed his usefulness and brain function is proposing term limits.
