So what about this then? It’s meant to be relatable. Not to mock. Did BSG hate Christ and want to Mock him? Was a spectacular show.

The video is here, and after watching it, makes me feel like any resemblance wasn't intentional. For that segment, they were not at a table, they were on the edge of a model runway, and the woman with the hat was the DJ, the people around her start poising like they are models, then models starting walking down the runway seconds after it started.

You can see it, here, at least the first minute or so ...

Imagine had that been a depiction of Allah and Muhammed? One fat woman as Allah and another drag women as Muhammed. WWIII. France would have much more to worry about than a trash fire on the tracks.

hypotheticals aside, my first thought when I heard all the outrage was how much outraged Christians sound like extreme Muslims in this case.

Even if the reference was intentional, the original is a painting. It isn’t any holier than any other art. Or are Christians now worshiping paintings?

"The idea was to do a big pagan party linked to the gods of Olympus," Jolly told the BFM channel on Sunday.

Oh, that’s so much better [sarcasm emoji].

I find it hard to believe that someone who is a renowned artistic Director would not immediately see the similarities between his arrangement and the Last Supper painting. Perhaps he did see the similarities and wanted to keep them, having the excuse that that’s not what they intended.

When the Last Supper painting is mentioned here, everyone immediately can picture that in their minds. How many people have even heard of the feast painting? People had to google it to even know what’s in it.

Maybe they didn’t set out to mock Christian symbols, but I can’t believe they didn’t know it would be taken that way.

Religious faith has zero to do with it. Being outraged by someone allegedly mocking a famous painting is dumb.

So it is their responsibility to make sure that you aren't offended by mistakenly attributing the image to another painting?

That is one way of looking at it. I know a lot of people who would be offended if someone publicly disrespected their spouse or their children as well, but we don't compare them to Muslims. The truth is when you love someone you care about them being treated with honor, dignity, and respect. If you know they would be offended if they were present you are offended too. That is what the reaction is about. It is about treating someone who is due infinite honor, infinite dignity, and infinite respect the way they deserve to be treated. What separates Christians and Muslims is Christians very rarely react with vengeance and retaliate in these scenarios. What separates Christians from many of the non-religious is the non-religious are indifferent towards the dishonoring of God and the disrespect towards God.

Interesting take. I was taught that what separates Christians from the non-religious (and those of other religions) was the acceptance of Jesus’s sacrifice to grant forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life.

There is a lot that separates Christians, which I define as the believers spoken of in the gospels, and the non-religious. My statement about what makes them different was in the context of what we were discussing, which was public dishonoring and public disrespect towards the God true believers worship.

Ok, I see now - you’re referring to cultural Christians, not believers.
