I was talking about long not leave bus rides & the length of time it takes to make MLB in baseball versus football or basketball

Sounds like college baseball will become more of a minor league for MLB. I’m fine with that as long as there is some real academics attached to these “scholarships”.

Agreed @ozgatorfan—the question really becomes what do we actually have between “these scholarships” + NIL $$$? Is it still college baseball?

I don’t think this will change WHO chooses the college route all that much. Just takes the negotiating partial scholarships part out of it.

I’m curious if it will have any effect on international players. I kind of doubt it because MLB is deeply entrenched in the hotbeds already, but who knows.

So I get that new regulations need time to enact and coaches will plan to adjust, but what is this timing saying to current players for the next year? Shouldn't current players be able to seek repayment for any funds occurred while waiting for the new regulations? It doesn't seem fair to current players that happen to be a year older than the next guy who get left out, yes, in left field. Could there be another lawsuit building?

No, I don't think all players before 2025 should be able to seek reimbursement but now that the levy has broken current players should not have to wait or miss out on opportunity. Nor should a player or school have to jump thru hurdles to piece together some semblance of a complete scholarship so they can participate.

I am sure that it will be the same standard or higher that is applied to football scholarships.

Jeez! Pretty snotty comment about a group that consitently has higher performance than the general student population, higher than frats and sororities, plus higher than athletes at most other colleges. Definitely higher than I ever did, I did graduate, but got no signing bonus.

Sorry, I thought I was repeating something correctly. I do stick by my subjective use of the word snotty.

The universities should not be free minor leagues for the pros. Baseball is the optimal. Go 100% all in pro or go to college.
It’s a farce to call them students. Transfers/NIL is adding to the mess. Snotty, snooty, whatever. The college game is gone.
