Problem is we have no hard evidence that he's (and others in the organization) doing things "right." We have hope that he is, but won't begin to have any real evidence until the season begins. To indicate that its inappropriate to discuss on a fan message board what pretty much every prognosticator and talking head is discussing strikes me as odd.

I hear you Crusher, but here’s my problem:
Since before the end of last season, some people have been talking incessantly about Napier’s impending dismissal. It’s gotten way beyond old at this point, especially in light of all the good he has done for the past 10 months. Doesn’t matter, same old crap being posted as if he just lost yesterday’s game.

And here’s the part that I find most annoying — people say they want Napier to succeed, but choose to bash him and threaten his job security right on up to the opening kickoff. What the hell kind of support is that? Do they really want him to succeed? Yes? Then get behind him and support him, at least until he fucks up. If you really want him to succeed, then at least give him your verbal support. Running him down and predicting his demise are the actions of people who want him to fail, not succeed.

And anybody who really wants him to fail so we can try yet another new coach after 2 short years is either a Gator hater, or one hell of a clueless person.

    Go Gators

    how is it not appropriate?

the topic/question was what context did Josh Moore say he hasn’t signed any papers yet. So, when reading moores full commitment statement, HE said it and also referenced he wanted to see how we would do on the field this year. (Same as many recruits have said while holding off on Uf or committing to other schools over UF).

meaning…if the team does poorly it is fair to infer Josh Moore may look elsewhere- especially if the season is poor enough the coach is replaced. It is relevant to the post/topic. You don’t have to like it but it is part of the topic being discussed. Me not typing this to a message board isn’t changing what Josh Moore said and not discussing it - when prompted- doesn’t make the situation go away.

NO WHERE did I say Napier SHOULD be fired. Or will be fired. Or i want him replaced. I attempted to answer someone’s legitimate question with what I read and inferred from the recruits post.

    relax online friend.

It's out there whether we like it or not. When Vegas is offering an O/U at 4.5 and given two previous losing seasons, being nice is "nice" but not really a requirement. Your point is well taken. We need a good season, and being honest, Napier and his staff need it. If we go to Tennessee 4-1, 5-0 the talk disappears. A lot of us are optimistic we can start 5-2 at worse and that from my pov would be pretty solid.

I'm with you @Skink (not that you need my support)

I'm tired of the constant complaining and critique of Napier. I've always felt that group of fans would like to see him fail so they can pound their chest claiming "I told ya so".

Yesterday, I went to lunch with my buddy who is a Bull Gator and at one time, was very involved in the program. The fans that pay the bills are excited about the season.

Aren't we all really in that same club though? Some are willing to wait 3, some 4, some even more years to see if Coach Napier works out for the Gators. How many poor seasons are you in for?

I will always support the team, and I believe that our coach wants to win as much (or more) than we do. I really hope he does and his system and process is validated. So I will support him until such time as he is unsupportable. I won't lie though and say that I don't have some niggling doubts that he turns the corner, because, so far, he hasn't accomplished what he was brought here to do.

If you aren't excited about the season considering what teams we get to take on, you aren't a fan at all, much less one that "pays the bills."

Of course we all have our niggling doubts. How can we not? I’m not a dummy Crusher, just opposed to open speculation on Coach’s job security at this point in the recruiting cycle and especially as Coach begins readying his team for our first game of the season just weeks away. So much going on right now and it’s time to stand behind him and do our part to voice support to boost confidence among the team, not erode it.

Yeah man we’re all in the same club. I really think we have sufficient talent and depth for a solid season — but they gotta believe in themselves and each other and go get it done. Spreading more doubt and speculation about Coach’s demise is about the worst thing we can be doing right now.

The point I was trying to make was that those who are donating big money are excited about the season and have confidence in Napier.
The keyboard warriors who can only see the negative aspects of the team are exhausting. July is the time for optimism.

Unless UF tanks completely, like a 3 win season CBN will be the coach in 2025.

The nihilistic navel-gazing does get old after a while. Especially in that it serves zero constructive purpose. Defending the same ground over and over again is equally tiresome. That's one reason I've helped to establish a rapidly growing community of pathological whiners in the cornfield.

It's always about perception... Do you see Napier getting better, or do you NOT see him getting better as the Head football coach of the Gators? This is your perception, there's no need to reiterated what a recruit said when you are the one typing your response here. Take full responsibility for how you sound when you post, regardless of whom you might be talking about.

Yes and it's hard to see why, I realize. FTR, 5-2 start would seem good>great. We would have a real shot at 7 because we are not going to be winless georgia through fsu. I believe I said 7 wins shows a fair amount of improvement in the program. Optimistic but not more than expected. I'm a fan of UF and the Gators. The staffs that come and go and leave a mark? Not so much.

Exactly but none of us need to listen to whining a what if we fail every single second. We need to have some confidence and posit attitude.

My perception? You cannot know my perception or intent with a post. No one can. I think it is more your perception or interpretation of what I wrote. If someone posts a recent question that I may have info on/a take on, should I not answer it because some people might be overly sensitive to the response or take it the wrong way? Literally nothing in my post was critical or negative towards anyone on the gator staff. It stated a simple facts. If someone interpreted my statements as negative by leaping from “you mentioned this topic that I have heard and read too much about and it makes me feel negativity and I don’t like it”- that seems a bit much. I personally have posted very little on this topic (Napiers future)- if anything. And I can’t really know what topics themselves - not the actual content of what I write but a topic in general - might make some posters snarl.

if you are not being facetious with the question and actually asking me if I think Napier is getting better as a coach….i don’t really know. From an off field perspective (like strength and conditioning, staff, culture, talent, etc.) I think he has improved. In some of those areas improved alot. It now all comes down to how we do on the field - that I am hoping and think we will do much better than expected.

We're all up to date with Napier's last two years as a coach, not what we all wanted, we get that.... now we're moving into his third year. So, can you at least wait till the Miami game is played before you start a new chapter of critiquing Napier's coaching? :D

    Thanks, spike. ;)

Personally, I'm surprised there isn't more whining after 3 consecutive losing seasons. Something that hasn't happened at UF since my Pops was a little kid. IMO, 2024 is put up or shut up time.
