Is Trump really saying that, after he fixes things, no more elections?

How do you know when a politician is lying?
    Not special to Trump.
Anyhow, he doesn’t mean he will somehow force himself to stay as president.

I’m cracking up at you all just like I did at the right when they had a bunch of theories that Obama wouldn’t leave office.

    Same shit different parties.

This is what republicans want … demographic changes are forcing them to either change their platform to move more centrist, or bypass democracy, to hold on to power. They are going to try the latter, because the party wants to move even more right.

Republicans have won the popular vote just once since 1988, and they know it’s getting worse for them, not better.

Usually when his name is Donald Trump.

But I wouldn't call what he said here a lie. It doesn't have the calculated characteristics of a lie. It's a bombastic boast, he's bragging about his intentions, to hell with dog whistles. Famous for his lack of self-control, he's letting it all hang out.

None of his worshipers here can explain what he meant, they just lamely say he didn't mean it. It will be interesting to hear Trump try to explain it if asked. But of course we can expect instead the usual evasion, he'll reply to the question with "Harris destroyed San Francisco!" (he has actually said that) or something else.

Trump: “I want to kill you.”

Trump zealots: “LOL silly libs, that’s not what he meant by it.”

    Spooky hours.

So please provide the innocuous explanation for what Trump means in that video. Because I’m still not seeing it. What does he mean?

Ok since you seem sure that’s not what he meant please explain what he did mean. I’ll hang up and listen.

Beyond saying future elections will be “fixed”, and his supporters won’t have to vote anymore, I can’t believe he said “I’m not Christian”? Someone should ask him what his faith is….

That could be a whole separate ad campaign in itself.

"We'll have it fixed so good, you're not gonna have to vote"

How else am I supposed to interpret this statement other than he intends to render voting moot?

Pretty chicken shit to come in here and take shots at people for their reading comprehension if you’re unwilling to provide an alternative.

He could be saying that they won't feel a need to vote, because everything has been fixed and there is nothing left that needs them pushing in a specific direction.

Since he didn't really accomplish much his first four years, I don't see how he would get to that point in another four. But his words could be interpreted in ways other than that there won't be elections in four years.

I am reading it like Phil is suggesting, where the “it” isn’t elections but the nation. I think he probably meant something like, “The nation’s problems will be solved so thoroughly you won’t feel the need to change anything again.”

That said, Trump often seems to just say crap the instant it pops into his muddled brain, and it’s almost not worth even trying to parse his words in one off statements like this.

Or he just doesn't care if you vote after 2024 because he won't be running... Unless he loses, and it's all Trump 2028 for the next four years...

Let's not forget that Trump has previously said (on video) that he will make sure that there will never again be an election like we had in 2020. That was the election that Biden won fair and square, as determined by the courts, Trump's AG, Trump's superviser of election security, and TWO private firms that Trump hired to find election fraud, but failed to do so. Trump has essentially vowed not to have a fair election like we had in 2020.

Remember also that Trump has told his followers (paraphrased) don't believe what you see and hear. Let's not follow Trump's self-serving advice to his cult.

I, too, am old enough to remember when Obama made authoritarian statements implying that he wouldn't leave office.

Might you see the difference in the situations you compare?

The Trump statement I referred to in my post above can be found in the link below.

Donald Trump: 'What you're seeing and what you're reading is not what's happening'
