But he didn’t. And he won’t. And he incessantly incites and divides through rhetoric. And all of that was topped off by his election lies leading to Jan 6.
What about the civil cases (the fraud cases, stealing from charity cases, the sexual abuse/defamation cases) that were pre-president? And the criminal cases are directly related to his presidency, so obviously they wouldn’t have been around if he wasn’t president.
First, the Clintons are not running for office. Second, YES!!!! I think they are cleaner than Trump, whose aggregation of transgressions — moral and legal- are mountains higher than any other politician that I’ve seen in my lifetime. And, what stuns me more than that is that people—good people—ignore the transgressions because Trump simply tells them to. It is the greatest political mystery that I have known in my lifetime. (And I love this thread because it gives a great place to talk without anger).
he is in politics for the adulation. all the easy grifting was just a side benefit. he is the world's biggest narcissist and the only thing he values is more adulation and affirmation. the emperor has no robes and no, other potus do none of those things
Yes is my short answer and you can check my post history in the last 48 hours if you think I am pro Clinton. I think the more relevant question is what were the Clinton’s goals versus Trump’s. Who has the potential to cause more harm? The Clinton’s wanted to be the leaders of the most powerful nation on earth, got there twice and almost a third time. Their views are pretty mainstream. Trump seems to solely be focused on accumulating praise for himself or what psychologists call “narcissistic supply”. That plus his black and white views on everything (best ever / worst ever), plus, constant victim mentality (which plays a huge part into why people support him - the other side hurt me and YOU), plus his inability to take advice from anyone else in a whole new category than the Clinton’s. So I would rank the Clinton’s at the top of the scale for corruption, and Trump somewhere off the scale that historians will be able to explain with hindsight.
thank you for the list. my responses are in blue. I wish you would consider them with an open, inquisitive mind. How does one discount that 40 of 44 of his handpicked closest employees tell you he is not qualified for the job. And they do so in no uncertain terms. One cannot simply ignore that 91% of his closest employees would refuse to ever work for him again. Would you hire someone with that rating?
The guy above u answered pretty honestly. You replied with garbage stating why they vote the way they do. Lol. You basically just proved a simple point. A lot on both sides are oblivious to the other.
I don’t know. It isn’t theoretically impossible. I suspect if you get people together, they can agree on more than they disagree, and probably most are willing to accept some compromise, but that isn’t how our engagements or our politics are structured. Politics is mostly about tribal identity and less about solving problems or seeking consensus. I’m not sure what one does in a Democracy or free market to change the objective. This is what people are choosing. As a general rule it seems like college educated individuals are a bit less tied to the tribal aspects, but only modestly. Also a little bit of higher education helps more people cut through some of the complete bullshit and fosters more independent thinking. As for voting I agree open primaries and rank choice voting are a decent first step.
Trump has some personal flaws, for sure. But even putting those aside, it's astounding that his supporters think he actually has policy plans, or really....cares to have policy plans. Other than tax cuts and deregulation, I struggle to figure out anything positive he did his first term.....and thus why it's rational to think he'd do anything positive in a second. "The libs blocked everything but he'd be great this time "?
I can’t speak to your motivations or any other particular poster, but what I see a lot of is cherry picking rationalizations / outcomes. I fully expect that if Trump had been president last 4 years and had higher inflation, etc etc, the supporters would be praising the strong economic recovery. If Trump changed his mind and supported Ukraine most Trump supporters would be happy with that. If Trump decided we needed to bomb Russia, they’d support that. Trump’s proposed policies for 2025+, including massive tariffs and mass deportation and lower interest rates would be inflationary. But I don’t see any Trump supporters pushing back on those policies.
Do you seriously think he is running so he can pardon himself? I'm not saying he won't just that it is not his motive for running. I know the left will try to sell that as a reason he is running but I think it is secondary.
I like Clinton as a president, but seriously? He and Hilary have more kills than the American sniper guy.
I’m speaking about the diehard MAGA crowd that shows up to the rallies and buys Trump shoes and whatever other bs he peddles to them. Sure there are plenty that will vote for Trump now that he’s the nominee because they think he’ll lower their taxes, or they just believe any Republican is better than any Democrat, no matter what. But for the ones who carried him to the nomination in the primaries, Trump’s #1 redeeming trait is that he pisses off liberals. These are the people proudly driving around with “Let’s Go Brandon!” And “F*** Joe Biden” or “Liberal Tears are Delicious” bumber stickers (I’ve seen all 3 in FL). For that group, supporting Trump is the focal point of their rage against other Americans that they’ve been conditioned to hate because of political differences.
There is a difference between refusing to endorse him and refusing to talk to NBC news. I don't blame anybody for ignoring a request from NBC news. I am assuming by the wording of the NBC news article you got that from if they sent you a text message or left a message with your answering service and you didn't return the call you are listed as one of the 40 who refused to endorse him. This is the way the Fake news operates.
