    This would be:

    Football 105 (+20)
    Basketball 15 (+2)
    Baseball 34 (+22.3)
    Softball 25 (+13)
    Volleyball 18 (+6)

Just what this football staff needs. More players with duplicate numbers.

Maybe they'll use Arabic numerals for offense and Roman numerals for defense . Can you imagine trying to figure out what LVI or XC is?

If you don't like the current NIL system (says the NCAA, with this action)… break it till the schools want to change it.

All well and good but are they saying that title nine is now dead? Make it 500 scholarships for football. Does you no good unless you have 500 for women's sports.

We're still talking about college football and college sports in general.

Yes, but the right to earn money isn’t dictated by a school and I totally agree with that. If they want to make them employees, they can dictate what they can and can’t do.

105 for football is ridiculous, rather see it lower so people can't hoard talent.

Yeah, 105 is dumb. I wanted like 90... but now that we will have 105 everyone will have to up their NIL game. And all the other scholarship hikes makes it impossible for smaller schools to compete. Maybe more talent will gather in fewer schools. I just hope the Gators are one of those schools.

It's true that a team like Oregon being extremely well funded could pay 105 players, but most cannot or would not want to and a third of their roster would never see the field there or would be waiting their turn for two seasons without having any film to show for their time on the team. I do not agree with the 105 number but it's no guarantee schools will want to or be able to carry 105 NIL deals.

I wonder if this was the NCAA's attempt to force teams that pay NIL to PWOs to simply make them part of the NIL system? Not only that, but I also wonder if walk-ons will be a thing of the past when this new rules go into full swing.

At first, I thought this rule would be a detriment to the smaller school, but if that 105 is the ultimate limit, meaning IF there are no longer walk-ons allowed, that might actually work in the smaller school's favor.

That would also be better for some walk-ons that might otherwise be relegated to playing blocking dummies at worst, and at best seeing the field in garbage-time at best playing as walk-ons for big schools.

With that possible hard player limit, these talented walk-on players might be better served to go to smaller schools that let them actually play football.

This could be a win for thousands of football players that might otherwise get lost on big school rosters.

I don't really follow baseball at all but does that mean that previously they could only give a scholarship to 11 players and also 7/10ths of a player? Do they make his non throwing arm sit outside of class from the shoulder up?

Baseball, Track Etc. have always allowed partial scholarships that could be divvied up in several different ways.

From what I have read that will be allowed now in both Football and Basketball… so you may have a roster limit of 105 in football, but it’s now up to the individual schools to determine how to divvy those scholarships. They no longer have to be full scholarships in Football or Basketball, but the hard limit on football rosters will be 105.

I don’t know what the impact will be on the so called major sports, but baseball, softball, et al could be significantly impacted. For years the limited scholarships in those sports have forced coaches to be very inventive with scholarship allocation.

The new rule could be helpful, but it will be very much dependent on the newly established roster limits… for instance the current roster for women’s track and field is 40, and for the men it’s listed as 55. The new roster limits are not likely to be anywhere near, that meaning you may have more scholarships to work with but for far fewer people.

Keep in mind that all of this will still need to be in compliance with Title 9 so a great deal of thought will have to be given scholarship allotment.

Try keeping that many kids happy on a football roster. Transfer Portal will be overloaded.

Don’t we carry 105 already? At least now those kids don’t have to pay their own way.

Those last 20 we have on the roster above 85 are happy now and paying their own way
