Interesting pickup! I had no idea there was a real prospect at SFCC.
Shot 39% from 3 as a freshman. I'm always happy to add shooters.
Started all 29 games, averaging 10.3 on 39% 3-pointer, and 82.5% from the line.

The Gainesville (Fla.) Santa Fe College product has three seasons of remaining eligibility and is already participating in the Gators' summer workouts.

A 6-foot-4 guard from Weston, Florida, Pazmino played a vital role at Santa Fe in 2023-24, starting all 29 games in which he appeared and averaging 10.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 38.8 percent from 3-point range. He converted four or more 3-pointers in 11 of his appearances, including eight games in which he made five or more.

He’s a walk-on. Good for him, but he’s not likely taking minutes from scholarship players

Yeah, we know. But he's a walk-on that can shoot and he wants to be a Gator.

Hey, from my other alma mater ... I'll cheer for him doubly.

The first day I was at UF, a prof told me I'd never make it at the university because I went to SFCC.

In 11th grade, I used to stay in the gym with my basketball buddies after gym class to get in a little extra playing, plus we all took showers that were too long. This made me late for chemistry class on a regular basis. One day, my chemistry teacher lectured me that my buddies would make a living playing sports, but I wouldn’t, and I really needed to learn chemistry. I straightened out my chemistry teacher in a hurry by letting him know that none of us were going to make a living playing sports.

I hoped you aced his sorry class; teach him a lesson. After he told you that, you should have said, “Well, you made it to UF so I figure anyone can!”

I ended up teaching in the department for six years (adjunct), so that worked out at the karmic level. The professor (whose classes I avoided) was known for heavy drinking and eventually was canned or "retired." Hope he got the help he needed.

Kid apparently is from my hometown. Went to high school 5 minutes from the house I grew up in.

Lived in Weston for many years, don't recall Cypress ever being very good in basketball. Hope he is the exception.

I also had a UF prof who often showed up smelling of alcohol.
But all in all, I mostly had good instructors at UF.

I’m not certain I would have been able to smell alcohol on an instructor for two reasons:
    1. I didn’t attend a lot of classes.
    2. I often had alcohol on my own breath.

Cypress wasn’t around when I was a kid there. We all went to Western or Cooper City back then, but yeah we weren’t great. Dillard, Ely and Boyd Anderson used to beat everyone.

I would like to take a literature course from an alcohol-smelling Ernest Hemingway.

I would rather have a few drinks with him at Sloppy Joe's and then throw his shotgun in the ocean.

I think that the Sloppy Joe’s that he frequented was across the street from the current Sloppy Joe’s.

They used to say Harry Crews drunk was better than any of the other English professors sober. He was a hoot.

Practice player. Used to play on a traveling team with Phil Weber in NY prior to him going to NC State. Played pickup games against UF players with him at UF when he and Monte coached there. Old Florida gym mostly. Even the end of the bench scholarship athletes at UF are very talented. Very athletic group. Not a lot of D in pickup games unless you unwisely enter the paint.
