I am curious what people's thoughts are. Was Biden's decision to step down voluntary or was he forced to step down by the higher ups in his party?

I'm curious who you think would have done the forcing?

Was there pressure to get him to stand down? Absolutely.

Forced? No, no one could force him out as he was solely in control of his delegates.

I think he was heavily pressured to step down.

Joe can now legally and officially bust a cap in anyone’s ass who tries to force him to do anything, so it seems impossible.

Joe was pressured to quit … but not forced.

Seems like a semantics debate. We have to define what “forced” means to answer the question.

That’s just splitting hairs. He was put in an impossible position. His party was publicly asking him to step down and the funding dried up. And it’s clear his circle fought it until the end. If it was up to them he would still be the candidate.

He was forced out, and it was the right thing to do.

Joe Biden is still President, so I am choosing none of the above.

And had he not floundered in front of the country in the debate, the democrats would still be covering for him and propping him up. They don’t care about Biden or the country. They only moved when they realize they couldn’t win with him. To be fair, Republicans only want to win as well. Don’t think any of them on either side are in it for us every day Americans.

If the question is why did he leave the race, the answer is because he was heavily pressured to do so and finally came to the conclusion that he wasn't likely to win and was holding the party back. Was he "forced" do it? No. Would he have done it if there was not significant pressure? No.

Quite right. For the stoic philosopher Epictetus, no one can ever force anyone else do anything. Even if at gunpoint, one can always choose the gun.

At the other extreme, one can be forced into an action by another party simply refusing to offer enough assistance. I was forced to steal that TV because the guy wouldn’t give it to me at a 50% discount!

Tell Mr. Epic Tits that I don't like his definition of force.

Agree. And I think that’s a form of force in the sense that the OP means. Biden’s dropping out was not a function of him waking up on Saturday and deciding he no longer wanted this.
