Just curious. Will it now be up to Kamala Harris to certify the election results of her own election? Awkward.

Trump insists that Pence can decertify results | PBS News

“He can decertify the results or send them back to the states for change and certification,” Trump said. “He can also decertify the illegal and corrupt results”

Who certified the election when Bush 1 won in 88?

Based on Vance's statements, I guess the individual state's elections are meaningless. VP Harris can approve of any electors she wants, the voters be damned. Hell, she could win the electoral college 538-0, right JD?

What I was thinking is Biden can have trump assassinated as an official act and then pardon his son Hunter.

    Correct!

JD Vance says he's wouldn't have certified 2020 race until states submitted pro-Trump electors - ABC News (go.com)

"If I had been vice president, I would have told the states, like Pennsylvania, Georgia and so many others, that we needed to have multiple slates of electors and I think the U.S. Congress should have fought over it from there,"

Congress convenes to count the electoral votes and certify the winner of the election.
In the case of an Electoral College deadlock or if no candidate receives the majority of votes, a “contingent election” is held. The election of the President goes to the House of Representatives. Each state delegation casts a single vote for one of the top three contenders from the initial election to determine a winner.
    • Only two Presidential elections (1800 and 1824) have been decided in the House.

To keep it clean Biden should hire Hunter to an official position, then instruct him to kill Trump, then pardon him. That keeps it official.

Why not? It was up to VP Gore to certify what ended up being his defeat in 2000. That could have easily gone the other way.

Yeah, that’s who I would pick if I wanted a job done right, a paragon of competence and reliability like Hunter Biden.

So if Joe Biden shot Trump, what would be the secret service protocol given SS for both would likely be on the scene?

I guess it would be like that duel of Kingsguards on House of the Dragon a few weeks ago, literally brother against brother, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria …

So the issue isn't the deed, it's the competence of the person carrying it out.

Which part of what I wrote do you not find serious? Your question is if the sitting VP is also a candidate would they preside over the certification of their victory or, by implication, defeat. And my answer is, yes, it’s happened in our lifetime.

LOL. I guess that’s a function of whether or not you want the deed accomplished or merely attempted. My response was tongue in cheek, of course, but in all seriousness once the identity of the shooter in this attempt was revealed, I was able to dismiss in my mind the idea of any actual conspiracy to assassinate Trump. This is not the guy you send to do a job like that. I’m not at all surprised he accidentally hit bystanders far away from where Trump was standing. I’m amazed that he got a bullet as close to Trump as he did, particularly while under fire himself.
