I was referring to Manchin. A poster said Manchin was against "reproductive rights" yet he co-sponsored an attempt to codify Roe.

And this time it's not going to work. Kamala Harris isn't Hillary Clinton. It's not 2016 and Trump has to defend even more extreme positions than he had in 2016. Let's not forget the repeal of Roe v. Wade was aspirational on Trump's part in 2016. He made it happen with help from Mitch McConnell through his SCOTUS nominees. A lot of moderate suburban women are really pissed off as indicated by their votes in 2022 when the "red wave" turned into a red drip.

For the archival record, because we're rehashing shit from years ago, but the hot sauce thing is funny. There are interviews and documentation of her legitimately carrying around hot sauce for years and talking about it. Not that it matters or I give a shit, cause it's the distant past, but she legit likes hot sauce and carries it. Was only a thing because she was asked about it on a hip hop morning show so they thought it was pandering.

After the first day, it is pretty obvious that Republicans are spinning their wheels.

The NRSC literally released an Oppo Research/Talking Points document that stated that Kamala Harris likes Venn Diagrams (apparently, Venn Diagrams are bad). Also, she apparently likes electric school buses because she rode the school bus to school (also, very bad, apparently).

Meanwhile, you have the hard right claiming that she is either not allowed to be President for *insert inane legal theory here* (including the return of birtherism) or that she shouldn't be President because she doesn't have children. Going to be tough to separate the ticket from this stuff when she caught a stray a little while back in JD Vance's endless attempts to deal with his mommy issues for not having kids.

If they lost their minds at the prospect of the first black potus, a Harris admin would put them in straightjackets, foaming at the mouth as they soil themselves. A woman? A woman of color? omg!!!!!

To be clear, the real issue is Trump was a different candidate and aligned well with changing electoral college demographics. Clinton won the popular vote by a respectable margin, but for some of the reasons you outlined didn’t play well in the “blue wall” states that are overrepresented by blue collar workers. It was at least partially Hillary’s fault because she took those states for granted.

Seems to me it again comes down to Mich, PA and WI. Some of the same dynamics are at play as in 2016, potential blue collar aversion to a “bossy woman”, but the negatives on Trump now are even greater, and Kamala will have some wind at her back in the abortion issue. I really can’t say how it will play out. I’d say it’s roughly 50/50. I think Whitmer/Shapiro would have a better chance due to their popularity and experience in those particular states.

Georgia is over 30% black so Harris may have a decent shot at Georgia.
