The reality isn't nearly as bad the headline. Had nothing to do with the rally at Butler. They cite a request for additional snipers in June or July 2023 which the USSS didn't have available snipers so local law enforcement provided snipers. Also cited things like wrestling and sporting events and noted that it's not uncommon for requests like that to be turned down depending on availability of resources. When I first saw the headline I thought it looked really bad for Mayorkas but he was clearly answering the question in terms of Butler and recent events.

It was lied about until they couldn’t lie about it anymore. “We didn’t have the resources” isn’t going to fly when you’re sending $150 billion to Ukraine. We had the resources. They were purposely withheld and a former POTUS nearly died as a result. Biden is not going to escape that.
