And for all of you Amanda Scarborough haters, you can change your tune, and I quote: "Taylor Shumaker might just be the next Amanda Lorenz."
The craziest thing....Gabriella Garcia and Izzy Mertes from the Batbusters are playing....and while good players....they aren't Kai Minor who is going to Oklahoma and is, inexplicably, not on the All-American team.
I agree. And for the most part an excellent color commentator. Some here went nuts with the usual "she hates the Gators', which I've never figured out with almost all commentators and she didn't help herself by being completely ignorant on the infield fly rule in that game against A&M.
Wow. This is a Taylor Shumaker show so far. What a great interview and a totally classy kid. And you folks think I couldn't be topped.
And I have no idea where they came up with that line of stats where Taylor is number one in every possible hitting stat. 30 home runs this year? Nope. They must be combining two years, or this year and high school, or just making it up. Unless the Batbusters' box score is completely wrong, you can trust my figures. I have no doubt she leads the travel country in virtually every stat but those aren't correct.
Well, ET, I assume you baconed me regarding Amanda haters. I suggest you go back through the threads to the time when she went off her rocker on the infield fly against A&M. Quite a few here went off on her as a "Gator Hater" etc. It was stupid. But it is there.
American, I think (lol I've edited this twice). White uniform. Can't keep the names straight. Since everyone bats, she might get one more AB after being hit with a pitch. Doesn't really matter. I said before that I thought she was a Skylar clone but a little bigger. Having looked at her stuff on Instagram and seeing her on live tv instead of a camera behind home plate. She is a big kid and totally put together.
I had it right the first time. What was always the advice on testing....don't change your first answer.
Nice slap hit by Thomas but no clue why she didn't stop at third. Plus....she was out of the box on the hit.
Since we didn't get a lot of Taylor with a HBP, a hard hit grounder to second, and a walk....here's her first HR on 7/18. Can't do anything about the darn cloud that wouldn't move and made the video so dark:
And her second home run in the same game against Batbusters-Black in what I think was the quarterfinals of the tournament. At least this one is a little lighter:
I thought that was extremely interesting in that segment when Cat was talking each pitch with her protege going to Arizona State. First time I have ever seen what it looks like for a pitcher to receive a pitch call on her wristband. On the other hand, this kid is pitching for the first time on national tv in an all-star game against great hitters and she has to talk between every pitch and break her concentration? Doesn't seem fair to me but, with a four year career ahead of her, I guess in the long run it doesn't mean much. And, on that same vein, Taylor gets thrown into a live interview on national tv and just absolutely nails it. What a classy and composed kid. I look back when I was 18 and if someone did that to me I wouldn't have been able to mumble my own name.
