I like D.J. Lagway's optimism... Doering's too. “Oh, that’s the easy question,” Lagway replied. “I think we’ll definitely have over a .500 record. I feel like we have enough leaders, enough veterans and enough young guys to get this thing going and to continue the winning tradition. You know, I feel like we’re going to get it back going and I’m excited for the season.” Florida football QB DJ Lagway predicts Gators winning record in 2024
I wonder if there is a way to hand the ball to Lagway in the backfield and give him a run/pass option? That would put a lot of pressure on the defense.
I think we have new plays designed just for Lagway and maybe some of those plays with Mertz on the field at the same time.
Okay, here we go... A gimmick? Lol... This is football where the forward pass was once a "gimmick" play. I think there are plenty of ways to play Lagway with Mertz at the same time without devolving into some crazy gimmicky play style. Putting your best players on the field a one time, in and of itself, is not a gimmick. Now maybe you're thinking about some dumbazz end-round flee-flicker play, that is what I would call a gimmick. NO, thank you. But simply putting another great athlete, that happens to be a QB on the field with Mertz, is NOT a gimmick... if you run some sort of play that gives you an advantage though talent superiority then make it so... Lagway is a huge talent. I would like to see how the opposing team's defenses react to Lagway lined up in different positions... misdirection is NOT a gimmick... but it is a play we can use to our advantage. Maybe he can pass the ball from the sideline on a double pass play... that is the most "gimmick" play I would want to see him playing in. However, I would NOT like to see him used as a battering ram from running back position straight up the middle. If he is used with Mertz on the field at the same time, he will have the defense mixed up/confused just being on the field. But he has to a genuine threat to make play, and please NO end-around flee-flicker plays, and NO Lagway running straight up the middle. That would be coaching malpractice.
I might (at first) confuse some teams that have not seen Lagway on the field in the film room. But I want him there becasue he's a great talent, but this could only really happen if he's NOT planning on red-shirting. If he's on schedule to red-shirt then I want him as QB in his own packages playing QB...
That sounds about right. CBN has said this is Mertz' team and getting to learn from Mertz is the best thing that could have happened to Lagway.
Great players play for three years and go pro these days. Redshirting has no impact in that case. I don't think he will redshirt.
I'm guessing clown college fan. I'm all for rival banter but chicks like this just disappear when things aren't going their way.
