RIP Lou Dobbs

I think as a general rule of thumb, we shouldn’t disparage people upon fresh news of their death in any way. It’s not as if Dobbs was a major political figure who impacted major decisions in certain people’s lives. I would hold the same standard if Joe Scarborough passed away. It also feeds the seedy nature of politics nowadays where people are so ugly they can’t even let the man RIP and withhold their negative thoughts about him for a few weeks. It’s illustrative of the sad state of our world, our politics and our culture and I was just hoping for something more among fellow Gators.

 

Nobody is going to think of Dobbs in a few weeks. There is no more pertinent time to speak of a legacy than when one retires or passes. In this case he was working on a daily radio show until his death.

 

Totally. Bob Newhart died yesterday too, and people are talking about him too, but since he made people laugh and didn't spend the last 20 years making money from promoting really shitty anti-immigrant stuff and conspiracy theories, the conversations will be different at their passing. Its a good case for not doing things that suck. But if you are going to sell your soul in life, dont expect anyone to mourn its passing.
