https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/18/media/lou-dobbs-dead/index.html Had a long career but will likely be remembered for the tail end of it.
Enjoyed his shows in the 80's and 90's. Dobbs, who held a degree in economics, was at CNN for over two decades. He started as an anchor for the program "Moneyline" in 1980, and the show was renamed "Lou Dobbs Tonight" in the early 2000s. Dobbs left the cable network in 2009. He then moved to Fox Business Network for 10 years before they canceled "Lou Dobbs Tonight". May he RIP.
Founding host on CNN. Ended career in disgrace on Mike Lindell Webcast. We need a public service campaign similar to the war on drugs. “This is what too much conservative media does to your brain”.
I remember him seeming pretty normal. Didn’t really think of most news anchors as political back in the day, Dude reeeaaaallllly hated Obama, which timed with his shift to Fox and let his crazy partisanship out of the bag. Not sure when he actually lost his mind. He and Maria Bartiromo were two of the worst pushing that election machine conspiracy horseshit in ‘20 and early ‘21. Amazingly, money honey still has a job but they pushed the old geezer in front of the train.
He had a career that spanned 4 decades and was a much better contributor to the news world than your cherry picked moments. A pretty douche move on your part. You can do better.
In his own douche words I guess. It’s just a video of his opinion of Trump. Those were his opinions expressed over and over and over. No out of context misstatements, his words, as he wanted to be heard and remembered.
Recall him at cnn, covering biz and he was knowledgeable, then saw him in recent years on fox embracing bizarre conspiracy theories and was unwatchable. Sad really.
Hardly just a couple moments. That video is a Comedy Central comedy bit, not an all inclusive. Does that craziness override the pioneering aspect of his career? Ummmm… yeah. It’s not even like he just lost his mind at the end, Birther garbage was 15 years ago and he was a top pusher. He apparently kept pushing the conspiracy on Lindell’s show in his 2024 comeback, 3 years after being fired by Fox News. Guy had the moral equivalency of a crack dealer. Which I suppose is fitting that he ended up doing webcasts hosted by a recovering crack addict. Circle of life.
Definitely an underrated figure in the GOP "MAGA" turn, I dont know if he was a Buchanonite in the 90s, but he basically became a Paleocon at the end.
Lou Dobbs devolution reminds me of that of Maria Bartiromo. When Dobbs was on CNN he was a very good economic and financial journalist. I watched him every evening for many years. After he moved to Fox Business he started regurgitating the standard right-wing talking points and as far as I'm concerned lost all credibility. The same for Bartiromo. When she was at CNBC she was an excellent financial journalist. After she moved to Fox she became another right-wing talking head.
As soon as people say things you disagree with…they’re idiots. Got it. Pretty much sums it up on TooHot.
