Alabama under Saban had a high graduation rate of those not drafted. Why would you think he's not sincere?
Personally, I think he over any other single person is to blame for the mess we find ourselves in the era of professional college football. He quit abruptly when it became clear to him that he no longer would have the advantage over other teams when paying players was legalized for all. I seriously doubt he gave much thought to football players graduating at Alabama over blocking and tackling.
So sick of teams coming into Florida and cheery picking the best players. It's time to lock this state down!
Well he didn't go to Miami at least, and while LSU is in the SEC and Oregon is not, I'm not exactly losing sleep he didn't choose Dan Lanning. Of course, you are right foot. But locking down the State? When was the last time that happened for UF? Urban? I still believe that if UF (COULD) do that, we would be pissing off the folks in Athens and Tuscarloosa again by collecting hardware.
Until he transfers. I think LSU is reaching a hinge point to. Kelly goes 8 - 4, the dog whistles will come out.
I think that’s a pipe dream. There is just too much outside presence here now. It would be like an MLB team not having an office or facility in the Dominican. You’re just not competing if you don’t.
Zook, really. Urbs did a lot of out of State recruiting and according to some reports ticked off a lot of HS coaches in FL. In reality, what happened was right around same time Urban was at UF, a handful of non-FL teams really upped their pay for play game. That and some very average FL teams really opened up the FL pipeline. Now its just legal pay for play, so if the FL schools can't afford to get competitive with financial offers, they won't be competitive on the field. Its just the sad facts of the current pro era.
Great point Crusher, (NIL / $ point). Perhaps "locking down" in state recruiting is old school thinking, about an amateur past, that will never be again. So I will rephrase. Perhaps if UF is able to accumulate enough wealthy investors, to outbid everyone else in and outside of the State, UF may be in a position to compete for playoff hardware in the future. Emphasis on "Perhaps".
Random and I can’t find it but I remember Urban saying he didn’t like recruiting SOUTH Florida players because they aren’t being taught much in HS etc etc.
