I'm going off of what Trump says. We can speculate that he's lying and really has other ambitions, but I don't think so in this case. We can agree to disagree there.

I believe he did what he did because he fundamentally believed the election process lacked integrity. I don't agree with what he did in the aftermath. I stand by Mike Pence, and how he handled the aftermath. However, Voter ID for all, and physical ballots for all is just common sense election reform.

You dont seem to be defending Trump but you are trying offering a rationalized excuse. I think if you are President of a Democracy and you’re going to over throw the elected successor you should probably have iron clad proof, not a gut feeling. That alone should disqualify him from consideration. I loath the republican platform but I would vote for it over an attempted usurping of democracy. I have voted for Republicans for far less.

I have Italian cousins who live about 50 k outside Rome. They had far more stringent Covid measures than we did.

I don't view it the way you do. Making a personal phone call to someone to appeal to them to use the power of the office granted to them in a particular way is not outside the bounds of the law IMO. That is not overthrowing the government. There was no unlawful retaliatory action taken from the office of POTUS when Pence or the election officials in contested states did not listen to him.

It was certainly in the gray area given the power of the POTUS, but there was no retribution on the back end to those who did not acquiesce to what Trump requested. What they did stood without any effort of Trump to retaliate against them. That is why I don't accept the government overthrow narrative.

So something is legal as long as you don't break other laws? BTW, he absolutely retaliated against the Georgia SOS.

Trump endorses challenger to Ga. Secretary of State Raffensperger

Don Jr. also has a better than expected speech. Interesting that he has (or has practiced doing) most of Donald’s signature facial expressions.

This should put to rest any questions about age being an issue for a person to be able to function! Thank you for your service, sir.......

JD Vance did not give a great speech (and I will vote Republican). The chants really threw him off his pacing. Content was fine.

Why would you righties love hearing from family members of Trump like a royal family? That seems so weird. It’s like some kind of worship, not a political party.

Don’t want to derail the thread so we’ll just have to agree to disagree. You should note Trump still spouts disproven claims it was stolen from him with no regard for democracy.

I saw her and it was tough to watch (lip injections). It reminded me of Austin Powers looking at his evil side kick and yelling "MOLE!!!" A bridge too far for that person.

And I would add that the overwhelming majority of Republicans agree including his current running mate although that claim has been disproven many times.

I’ve viewed the convention more as a united civil protest against Biden, Harris, and the DNC agenda than a worship service for Trump. Obviously, if we want the current administration to pack their bags and go home, then there is only one way that is going to happen. It is to elect Trump. This is the RNC’s big chance to make the case for Trump.

Hearing testimonies from different people about Trump IMO is very important. Obviously, there is some bias here, but there has also been bias against Trump in the MSM as well. It helps to get a more holistic picture of the man and understand his humanity. He has a family that loves him. Women speak well of him who have worked under him. And there are people who were grieving that were comforted by him.

An in-law like Lara Trump quoting Proverbs 28:1 and applying it Trump is interesting. I fundamentally disagree with her based on what I know about Trump from a public vantage point. I don’t think he’s righteous, but that also doesn’t mean I agree with the MSM narrative either or everything he has been accused of in the court system. I also think it shows something we have known for a long time: Trump and his family do not understand Christianity and the Bible. On the flip side, though, that is also being said by someone who knows Trump as a family member. Even if there is a fundamental misunderstanding there about what true righteousness is, it was still said by someone who knows Trump on a much more personal level than you or I. She speaks very well of her father-in-law.

Eric Trump’s comments that Trump has always supported gay marriage and early term abortion…that is believable and helpful in forming an accurate portrait of who Donald Trump is. Trump used to donate to Democrats, so that is not a big shocker.

I have not heard his wife speak at the convention yet. I also have heard almost nothing from her in the past year or so. That could be telling if she does not speak at the convention, but it also could be strategic as her making a public appearance anywhere invites the MSM’s commentary on Trump’s past infidelity and also the accusations made against him in court the past few years.

Hearing the Afghanistan families and their testimonies about how Trump helped them grieve the loss of their children was huge as well. Hearing how hurt they were when Biden denied that any military personnel had died during his presidency was helpful as well. Also hearing how no one in the Biden administration has ever spoken their names publicly or acknowledged their sacrifice to the country publicly was helpful too. Also hearing how hurt they were when Biden called the Afghanistan withdrawal a success was helpful too. Obviously, Biden and his administration have their motives and reasons for being this way. Afghanistan is a huge black eye on the Biden administration, and they did not want to bring any additional attention to it. They wanted to sweep it under the rug and move on.

When we listen to both sides we are having a dialogue and we can develop a holistic picture formed outside of an echo chamber. When we only listen to one side that is a monologue and an echo chamber.
