Terrible schedules but Tennessee may have the toughest but still not as tough as ours. Look at who we beat if we are 8-4. Probably a 10 win fsu. Do they get in before us after we beat them.
Great analysis. I don't think any of those teams had a top 10 schedule ranking. So, it looks like 8-4 does put us in the conversation at least.
I suppose it's possible but the losses would have to be early season losses. Then, we would probably have to beat UGAG and tex as part of the 8. And the other teams like the Holes we would have to beat somewhat convincingly, no squeaking by.
With our schedule, we could have 8 wins and our only losses could be against top 8 teams. If those losses to top 8 teams are close, we can make an argument for being one of the last four teams in the playoffs.
not 8 wins and in, but per the chart, 8 wins and we have a shot. There's a hellova lot more teams on that chart than 12, so everyone can't get their wins and get in.
Maybe I’m crazy but it seems like some of the posts in here are not accounting for the new 12 team play off picture. 6 games this year for the first time. That’s pretty much half the top 25 and CFP team looks at nuance more than coaches and AP. “The new format, which is a 5+7 model, will give the top five conference champions automatic qualifying spots and the next seven highest-ranked teams at-large spots. The top four conference champions will also receive a first-round bye.”
That’s with four not twelve. If their qb didn’t go down, they would have been in. Top 12 isn’t that hard except our schedule makes it less likely to be ranked realistically.
I think this will become repeated and absorbed so that by the time the season starts anything less than 8 will be seen by many Gators as a disappointment. Maybe rightly so I don't know.
Looking at the final conference standings over the past several years The B10 will have 4 teams with 9+ wins The SEC will have 4 teams with 9+ wins The ACC will have 2 teams with 9+ wins The B12 will have 2 teams with 9+ wins The G5 gets 1 team automatic If the SEC gets the champ + 3, I highly doubt the committee will put in a 5th team out of the SEC with 8 wins over any 9 win team from the B10, or the 9 win conference runner up from the ACC and B12.
So the playoff teams might have 13 games before playoffs begin? Long season. Looking forward. We should expect to see a significant number of good players opting out. Could be a fiasco.
