Gotta disagree with this take. We have sufficient talent to perform at a high level. No one player, especially a potential attitude problem, is worth disrupting the team character Coach has been building
Technically, I had seen the articles you posted and indirectly referred to Nick's report in the OP. I was just too lazy to figure out how to post them myself. Again, thanks for doing my homework for me. But FTR, knowing that Nick was the original source of the report didn't fill me with confidence in the moment. Hence the question posed in the header. Not to single Nick out but conflating hot take opinions or unsubstantiated rumors with unassailable facts seems to be the standard MO of podheads everywhere these days. Some are obviously more blatant with it than others and there are a few I still rely on for a reasonable recitation of fact. Unfortunately, those are increasingly few and far between.
Napier is saying Cormani had a good week and is doing fine: Cormani McClain rumor 'blown out of proportion,' says Florida's Billy Napier: Former five-star CB 'doing fine'
I’m just not behind equating “oh he was late to practice” to “he needs to be kicked off the team”. The people so quick to turn on our own player with 0 facts are wild to me. Especially when his position coach publicly disputes rumors. One of the many examples I’ve seen where this fanbase exudes toxicity across every social platform available.
I think it's wild when a story leads with the line "Cormani McClain's agent" giving a statement. Agent. It's a new world. I also find it hilarious that the agent is with a firm named "Disruptive Sports". Maybe the young man needs a representative from "Less Disruptive Sports."
There's likely to be some basis of some sort for the things that Nick put out. And I don't think he totally made it up either. But the coaches say it ain't so and that is the official reality for now. My guess is the incidents were possibly exaggerated when they were imparted to NDT, but not completely ginned up. Nick's no worse than the average click monger overall, he just got a little too far out in front of his skies this time and he is catching some flak as a result. I doubt that he bats an eye. Bright lights, big city.
I get your point but you’re coming after the wrong people here. Who specifically are you calling out for ‘exuding toxicity’?
Could be. He went public with something the staff and major media sources are not acknowledging as substantially factual, and I'd personally rather believe the HC and staff. As far as Nick goes, verification of facts is supposedly a component of reporting. But that doesn't keep "the media" from stepping on garden rakes at a pretty regular clip. Just saying.
He should bat an eye. He screwed up a bit here and should learn from it. Happens to most of us regardless of our professions
I concur. But hot takes and low expectations seem to be his niche. We'll see if that changes in the least. Podcasts are a lot like pro wrestling, Nick's a heavy.
Just over every thing I read about this team being negative, usually for absolutely no reason. "Oh breaking news...college kid late to practice. Make sure our beat reporters put him on blast"
