Actually, Rubio has been very outspoken in support of Ukraine--no OTR needed.

EDIT: Check that--he seems to have changed from all in on Ukr, to not so much, until our border situation is brought under control--ie the Party line.

Again, we've got way bigger problems at home--that's my biggest hang up.

...and Russia, in case you haven't noticed, is laughably impotent.

They can't get past half the width of the FLA peninsula, but we're supposed to be afeared of Putin = Hitler???

...what's more, they're getting lit up against our Army-navy surplus crap, without even getting to see the toys our citizens get to see at airshows ( which in turn, do not include our best stuff, nor even the best our airshow displays can actually accomplish).

Then there's the matter of whst those hundreds of millions of dollars are actually going to, and what we're actually paying for..

...all the while, chicom fenty kills 100k Americans per year, >10 million illegal immigrants from all over the world have waltzed into our country unvetted, including terrorists, drug dealers, sex traffickers, chicom soldiers and spec ops, cartel ops, gangs and gang bangers, rapists, murderers, robbers....

But we need to protect Ukraine's border integrity???

We really don't though. Energy production has never been higher. We still have the best agricultural land and production in the world. More fresh water. And we have the largest and most self-contained economy in the world. Immigration isn't really a problem on a macro scale, however an unchecked border does thwart any ability to be selective about that immigration. We're even ahead of most if not all in demographics.

And, AGAIN, Ukraine is about keeping them in their hole and not letting them create havoc across all of Europe and directly threaten NATO allies (Article 5) and create an even bigger mess. Further, we're not really spending that much anyway as most of the stuff going to them was outdated (by our standards) and going to be destroyed anyway. Yes, there is a value to those things, so a number is created to show the value, but it's not like we're just sending them cash. Plus, what money we do give them tends to come right back to defense contractors here (ammunition). Which also helps us, because we entered this thing with a major deficit in the production of those things and now we can ramp that up and start stocking up ourselves.

Stop getting your information from tainted partisan sources. There's so much information out there if you just bother to look. Our "problems" are mostly self invented and self inflicted. We are set up to dominate the next 100 years but seem determined to screw that up. Again, this is why I'm literally and enthusiastically hoping for a military coup. Our political system (and it's PR media outlets) is completely bankrupt at this point and at least the military is somewhat merit and results based. Time to focus on the bigger picture and put an end to all this nonsense.

 

I think that's where most of "the number" comes from. In terms of direct cash, it's not that much. The other thing I never thought about was production, which is where we really dropped off post Cold War. It's not like they're just sitting there waiting for you to order millions of rounds. They need long term commitments to justify getting those production lines up and running. Further, we need to build out more production facilities. So, cynical as it may be, this helps us get a head start on that as well.

The problems at the border and with immigration policy date back to the Reagan era and pretty much every POTUS since has their share of blame. If you honestly believe that the entire immigration issue can be laid at the feet of Biden, then you are clearly living in a bubble.

what is abhorent is how anyone could attempt to justify and reward what Russia has done to Ukraine. System rape, torture, civilian war crimes..I could go on. That cannot be tolerated and I have no respect for anyone willing to placate or normalize that behavior.
