No, that must be your opinion, not mine.

Duly noted that I asked, and you failed to answer the question of do you insult and inflame. You know you want to insult and inflame so have at it. It's par for the course.

If you are interested in having a conversation about my 'barbs' I would be pleased to exchange PM's with you. I will not torpedo this thread entertaining your - dare I say - gripes. The complaint has previously been made. I've answered it a couple of times, and will do so again.

In 1972 I was a registered Republican and 24 the first time I voted. Married for 4 years and the mother of a newborn, my political and personal leanings were decidedly conservative. Incidentally, we were living in Wilmington, Delaware and it was the year newcomer and county commisioner Joe Biden was running against incumbent Caleb Boggs, part of the DuPont political machine.

A couple of years later I sat in front of the TV watching through my tears as a disgraced Nixon boarded the heliocopter on the first leg of his exile to California to begin his time of shame. I wept not for Nixon, but for the disgrace he brought to the office and a befuddled nation. The 60's were a time of turmoil and radical changes in direction.

I won't make excuses for Nixon, but I don't think he was a 'bad' man. But he let unbridled ambition, then hubris, fuel his approval and / or coverup of the Watergate shenanigans. He lost his way and the nation suffered the excesses of that ambition. Was there no one to caution or warn or tell him he was headed the wrong way, doing the wrong thing?

Incorrect inferences are made daily, multitudinous times on this forum. Accusations and unfounded charges also, that mostly reveal themselves to be projections of the fears, expectations, or guilt of the one making the projection. Too few are aware they are not exempt.

My roots spring from conservative soil, guided by conservative values and conservative morals. Do I make more charges against out-of-control Right Wingers? Yes, I do. As some of the same ugly, inciteful insults that come from MAGA keyboards are also made by their left wing counterparts, why am I heavier on "Trump supporters"?

If a mother sees her child, her neice, or other close relative in the company of others bullying or lying to the point it causes hurt or other emotional harm to other people, her first inclination is usually to make an attempt to curb the detrimental behavior of her own.

The ramping up of hostilities will continue until the predictable few - yes, on both sides, realize what role their repeated insults play in the continuing escalation. It will not stop with the "other guy". It stops with [your]self. So for the time at hand I will continue to rap MAGA knuckles with my "flowery" :D language, hoping and praying people will give more than a passing thought to the axiom What goes around, comes around.

What you are doing to others you are doing to yourself.

As for 92, he and I have a history that has at times been agreeable as well as confrontational. Though he can be a hyperbolic hot head, I think we understand each other even as we disagree.

There's a lot you don't see. Other than the occasional notice of moderator action on a moderated post, you will not see or know what content was edited or deleted. Nor will you know which moderator was responsible. I'm aware there have been accusations of unfair treatment, but seriously - who can honestly make those charges when they don't know what moderating action was made, or what moderator was responsible. Yes, we strive for fairness. And your charge of moderator bias is neither fair nor honest.

Maybe just me but i respect and put more weight on opinions from individuals who generally avoid insults and constant inflammatory content. And even more if the poster is positive. i.e I at least considered JD Vance after Bazza posted positive stuff about him. And it’s because of Bazza.
And it’s not a deliberate decision but just my initial reaction to the poster.
And yes I’ll put myself in the makes-provocative-posts category.

Prayer from my church this past Sunday:

“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.” – Colossians 4:6

    God of light and love,

You who have made yourself known to us, and through your Son Jesus Christ have called us to love you and to love one another,

We pray to you today, painfully aware of the brokenness that permeates our nation. The hostility that exists among us grieves your Spirit and puts the well-being of us all at risk.

Where we have been slow to listen and quick to judge…forgive us, we pray.

Where we have chosen to insulate ourselves, listening only to voices that reinforce ideas that we already espouse…forgive us, we pray.

Where we have spoken ill of our neighbor because of disagreements or differences of opinion…forgive us, we pray.

Where we have mocked an opponent or laughed at the downfall of one whose political ideas we oppose…forgive us, we pray.

We plead today for the healing of our land. We acknowledge our need for your guidance and help. In our pleading, may we also choose to accept responsibility for the work that is ours to do…in building bridges through words and actions that are more loving, more caring, more respectful, more gracious, and more gentle.

Give us the courage to share in this work together. To follow Jesus. To be the church. Help us encourage each other toward deeper faithfulness, that our witness might shine your light and your love for all to see.

We pray these things in the name of the One who came to break down every barrier to the transforming power of your love, and who invites us all to a table where we might find joy and contentment in feasting with one another. And so…together…as one body…we pray as he taught us:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

So should I assume by your comment “as someone who wished he was a better shot” you wish that Trump had been killed?

Just checking if that’s what you meant without actually saying it.

Lots of great stuff here lacuna. A couple thoughts:

You are clearly right that when a poster makes a judgement on an event, this judgement may be almost solely a reflection of the perspective of the poster, rather than the nature of the event. We can imagine a 2x2 matrix with these as the overly simplified four boxes:
    1. The event was good, and poster judged it as good.
    2. The event was good, and poster judged it as bad.
    3. The event was bad, and poster judged it as good.
    4. The event was bad, and poster judged it as bad.
Our goal is to act in accordance with #1 and #4, but bias often intercedes drawing us into the gutters of #2 and #3. What makes this clear is that a poster with a liberal stance will much more often chide the conservative side as acting in quadrants 2 and 3, and compliment the liberal side as confining their judgements to quadrants 1 and 4. This is an And a conservative poster will do the opposite. This on its own should act as a powerful warning to each of us that we could be these people.

Secondly, I’m reminded of one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite movies, Harvey, with Jimmy Stewart:

Years ago, my mother used to say to me, she'd say ‘In this world, Elwood, you can be oh so so smart, or oh so pleasant.’ Well, for years I was smart... I recommend pleasant.

incompetence and a government conspiracy are two different things.

Also, has it occurred to you or anyone else that this may also be a result of our crazed gun culture demanding that anybody and everybody be allowed to carry a gun anywhere and everywhere? Seeing someone with an AR-15 may not be uncommon, especially among Trump supporters. My recollection of January 6th was that Trump was not concerned about weapons because he didn’t think they would be used against him.

I suspect Trump is kind of a pain in the ass for the agents and they have to make decisions against his wishes.

Are you really blaming Trump getting shot on him being a pain in the ass for security?

Trump was angry attendance was not at capacity. After being warned that Secret Service was denying entry to people who tried to pass through magnetometers armed with guns, bear spray, knives and brass knuckles, Trump delivered new instructions to those working the checkpoints.

“I don’t effing care that they have weapons. They are not here to hurt me. Take the effing mags away. Let my people in.

Seriously, how many AR-15's were within the security perimeter of the stage?
