I've seen some usually reliable sources indicate that CM has not toed the mark thus far and is already creating tension in the locker room. It's being reported by Nicky D that his habitual tardiness and general attitude issues are unchanged. I won't rush to judgement here, at least until some actual facts emerge to substantiate the reports. But if the stories prove to be true, I hope he's gone sooner rather than later. TBH, I'm not even convinced that he'll beat out the established players in front of him whether he applies himself or not. It's difficult to imagine an unruly schoolboy catching up with and then surpassing a really good group of disciplined, talented young men who have already established themselves as such.
So you would think. Nick shoots from the hip quite a bit and he sometimes confuses his opinion with established fact. But there is some smoke coming from other corners. Staying tuned.
Based on the reports that these things were specifically tied to his NIL, he is costing himself money and playing time. Even possibly a roster spot if he doesn’t mature. One person will not stop the culture of an organization that includes two hundred ish people (coaches, players, staffers, etc.). I’m not going to believe a rumor, but if true, he’ll find an exit door waiting.
I'm locking this thread for now since we don't usually discuss rumors about players or coaches until there is published news. if @lizardbreath (or anyone) has an actual published news story, send me a PM and we can always re-open and discuss. Edit: I was contacted and we should have one or more published stories to discuss soon. Thanks everyone!
Cormani McClain reportedly has behavioral issues with Billy Napier’s Gators following transfer from Deion Sanders’ Colorado
I was dumb at that age and I didn't have pockets full of cash and people telling me how great I was either. Being late to team meetings isn't great, but let's not overreact. Hopefully just part of the process. Sometimes takes some mentorship
Enough already. Take a hike. The good of the many outweighs the good of the few….er, the good of the one.
Respectfully disagree on a couple of counts. IMHO, slack or uneven player discipline is rat poison for a program trying to rebuild team character in tough times - and CM has been pushing the envelope for a minute now. But BN is a judicious fellow and he won't cut any ties that don't need cutting. I believe he'll do the right thing. But if the reports are true, this is "take two" of the chance of a lifetime for CM. I personally see no growth if what Nick says is factual. That's not good after the way he left CU. There's been a funny odor about this guy's conduct and approach to the college game that actually goes back to HS. I wish him well elsewhere. But who needs the childish agita from a player who'll be two years out of HS before the season starts - when he's probably not going to beat out the more developed, well-established CBs in front of him. If I've got it straight, CM didn't do diddly at CU. Guys like CM are poster boys for why good coaches don't tolerate goofy shit on a reoccurring basis. I would love to see how Charly Pell would have dealt with Cormani.
There are two kinds of players in just about any sport, the ones who love the game and everything attached to it and the ones who enjoy the notoriety (and usually money) attached to playing the sport at a high level. It appears as if he is much more attached to his so-called 5-star status and not what is the game. We shall see where it all this leads.
