Am I the only one who thinks this wasn’t random political violence?

This was a catastrophic SS failure (but I’m not going to point fingers anywhere yet or partake in all the conspiracy hysteria).

How do they leave the closest roofline to the candidate unprotected, and then (from the video) seemingly track the gunmen with snipers before he shoots but still let him get off 3-4 rounds before taking him out, and NOT simultaneously protect the candidate?

As soon as the first sniper or agent saw on the roof that wasn’t supposed to be there (and there were people yelling and pointing), they should have initiated a protocol whose first priority was to protect the candidate and the human shield surrounding Trump after he ducked should have been initiated until the roof was cleared.

I despise Trump but it’s really hard to fathom this chain of events.

The shooters internet presence will tell quite the story I imagine. A radicalized rogue 20-year-old is exactly what Biden and the democratic party have been hoping for. Registered republican won't hold up to scrutiny.

Kim Cheadle, head of secret service appointed by Biden two years ago, will be raked over the coals in congress for numerous denials for increased secret service from Trump's secret service detail. Cheadle's testimony will lead to Mayorkas and to Biden. This too will come out in the coming weeks. Cheadle has already been requested to voluntarily appear. Just last week on ABC in an interview with George Stephanopoulos, Cheadle maintained there were no credible threats against Trump. That statement didn't age well.

Just because someone doesn’t like guns or isn’t comfortable around guns doesn’t mean you should be casting aspersion like Radical gun organization and highly illegal against those that do enjoy shooting and collecting firearms.

 

It's not "hard to fathom" at all if this was a conspiracy or "just let it happen" scenario. You've laid out the first-day evidence well. This guy is allowed to climb around at will and shoot, Trump is allowed to just stand there, then after the guy shoots he's immediately taken out, unlike the patsy Oswald who they had to shoot later because apparently someone screwed up.

This may be difficult to cover up, unlike the old days like Dallas before phone videos etc. But incompetence or gross negligence will of course be the cover story, and we know from the JFK case how gullible the American public can be. Whatever the government says after investigating itself.

BTW the idea that Biden or the Democrats could be behind this makes no sense. If Trump was taken out, the GOP could nominate a competent, non-MAGA candidate who would bury the Democrats’ doddering old man in a landslide. But the problem there, of course, is “non-MAGA.” I’m not sure that today’s GOP has that much sense or freedom from the MAGAts. But then I would think they could at least find a MAGAt who doesn't have an uncontrollable compulsion to lie and who isn't "beyond narcissism" (to quote the late psychiatrist Charles Krauthammer's apt description of Trump).

What a mess this country is in.

 

I wish we’d take a breather before laying blame. And while Im not a fan of stoking tribal tensions from either side, but let’s not pretend that Trump isn’t the world champion in this event.

Trump even suggested he will root out the left’s communist and fascist thugs because the threat from Democrats is more sinister than those from Russia, China, and North Korea.

Trump went on further to state: “the threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within. Because if you have a capable, competent, smart, tough leader, Russia, China, North Korea, they’re not going to want to play with us.”

The SS has experienced several bi-partisan failures over the years. You don’t need to go spinning off into the thin air of conspiracies. Just look at the very real history.

 

Are you forgetting who is head of the DOJ? Oh, how about this -The United States Secret Service (USSS or Secret Service) is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security with the purpose of conducting criminal investigations and protecting U.S. political leaders, their families, and visiting heads of state or government. So, I wonder who is the director of Homeland security. The truth of what happened will never see the light of day in my opinion. I think many of the SS are exceptional people including those who risked their lives for DT. But all it takes is one or two bad eggs to allow something bad to happen. That building was left unsupervised and unsecured. Prior to any major event a security sweep and assessment is to be made at possible areas of concern. Surprisingly, this building was not secured. Surprisingly warnings of a guy with a gun crawling on the roof minutes before the shooting were unheeded. I've done security and everyone is tied to the same channel of communications. Lots of major security issues but doubtful the whole truth will be known.

 

I doubt this is true given how much Trump is covered by the media, but I don’t see how it is a defense even if it were. Either demonizing rhetoric is acceptable or it isn’t.

Disagree just a bit. If Biden gave the verbal order, a wish, not to provide adequate protection to Trump, it would be done. Inside informants in the secret service have turned on Kim Cheadle who could turn on Mayorkas, who could then turn on Biden. With so many in the democratic ruling class turning on Biden, the truth may have a chance of coming out. These people would be heroes to the left.
