At first I thought a bullet grazed his ear and that’s why he was bleeding, then I remembered that he dove to the ground. Maybe he injured his head/ear when he dove on the ground? I dunno, I’ll have to wait for all the facts to come out. Thoughts and prayers to Donald in the meantime.

 

it mentioned he had a “AR weapon”. AR15? I was thinking it’s hard to imagine this happening in other developed countries. But we’re at a big disadvantage with the proliferation of assault weapons throughout our country. We’ll get more info, but apparently some 20 yr old amateur gets a ar15 and practically puts the most powerful, richest country ever, in utter turmoil.

No, I don't consider a person's ear getting grazed by a bullet to be the same as a person being shot "in" the head. As for the report, you can read it yourself:

I’ve heard it described as an “AR type” weapon not sure what that is but the exact weapon hasn’t been disclosed that I’ve seen. Could be a 30.30 or 30.06 with a scope and ad-ons for all we know.

In this instance we may be lucky he picked poorly in weapons.

There’s a reason snipers (including the Secret Service special operations division snipers who killed this guy) are using bolt action guns derived from hunting rifles. Primary reasons are better accuracy and can be chambered in more powerful rounds.

In the case of the Secret Service I believe they’re using the long action version of Remington 700 actions dropped into a specialized stock/chassis and chambered in either .300 Win Mag or .338 Lapua Mag.
