At the point of attack the SS was flawless. Watching it again I’d like to apologize for calling them dudes as I saw 3 female agents use themselves as body shields as well.

The overall safety measures I can’t comment on. Trump takes a lot of risks being among the people all the time and assassins only need one opportunity.

Name an empire that lasted forever. Consider the many that have fallen. We just may be witnessing the cycle (If we are, it began long before today or even before Trumph) of failure.

I get that and agree the agents around the stage reacted quickly and put themselves in the path of potential future shots. The issue I have is with the very simple prep that a rooftop with clear line of sight isn’t protected.

note that SS agent hugging Trump, so she’ll take any more bullets if there’s another shooter etc. Amazing how they do that.

Read the story about the SS agent that stood up, and in between Reagan and Hinckley as he was shooting. Hinckley emptying his gun and agent readily took a round in the chest to save the potus.

Jeez. Trump has a great response, and then we get this crap from his potential running mate.

We continue lead the world economically, militarily, culturally and artistically. We have a long way to fall. A testy election won’t undo that in my opinion.

Rome went from a republic to an empire. Not saying that's happening now, but we are not immune.

When events like this take place throughout time, they are not from some deranged citizen or non-citizen. If a rooftop does not have protection, we know who carries out these types of events. They will try again. I have shared numerous times here that I cannot believe they have not already taken Trump out.

Trumps comments weren’t unhinged I guess.

But with history as a guide, that definitely won’t last. JD Vance already going the “Biden’s fault” route.

trumps betting odds to win increased. He went from roughly 60% to 65% chance of being our next potus.

Considering that Trump was criminally charged for calling for “peaceful protests” on the Capitol, it might be unreasonable, but it’s certainly not out of bounds under our current standards, considering Trump has been characterized as a Hitlerian threat to Democracy by Biden.

I think our country had a pretty good run. But unfortunately, I see it winding down here shortly. Hope I'm wrong.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) on Friday introduced legislation that would strip Secret Service protection from convicted felons sentenced to prison, a bill clearly aimed at former President Donald Trump.

“Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentences of a protectee – even a former President,” Thompson, the former chairman of the House Jan. 6 select committee, said in a statement.

“It is regrettable that it has come to this, but this previously unthought-of scenario could become our reality,” he added.

A factsheet on the so-called DISGRACED Former Protectees Act notes that Trump’s “unprecedented 91 felony charges in Federal and State courts across the country have created a new exigency that Congress must address to ensure Secret Service protection does not interfere with the criminal judicial process and the administration of justice.”

Think what would have happened today had they succeeded.

This is sad and unacceptable. We must solve our disputes through the electoral process, not violence. But this is a result of Donald Trump stoking violence and chaos in this country. It is sad this is where we're at as a nation. It is a consequence of all the damage Trump has done.
