I’m more replying to the statement of this being some monumental game in the history of Florida, which is total BS
Yes, I will go with that. It’s one of the more important in the last three years. Not many have meant much.
I’m speaking on the importance of the Miami game compared to other historical games. It’s not that big. It’s big for Napier, but not in the history of Florida.
Let me correct that it was supposed to be an eight not an a. We need to win 8 games, but six and six may keep his job, but it’s going to be very uncomfortable.
If the easy part of the season starts with a loss to a rival its a game changer. Not because it is one game or even Napier. If we lose to UM then Samford is a win other than that A&M, UT away, Miss ST away...even UCF is solid. Then the season gets impossible and given our end of the year record Im not seeing a lot of easy wins there. Its very very easy for the wheels to come off after just the UM game given our schedule....very very easy given we are riding a nasty 5 game losing streak already from last year too. Big for Napier but the second we start slipping the negative recruiting will go to 100 on our draft class and we are set back 3 more years minimum unless some big name coach wants to stick his nose into the fan for a billion dollars. Winning two games out of the first 5 makes us 2-7 including last year and we would be lucky to get two wins to finish the year. That being said Ive said we WILL take UM...I think convincingly...I just hope that builds our momentum and confidence. Senior star QB to steady the team...thats priceless if he stays healthy. Defensively we cant possibly get any worse (but I said this last year). We can absolutely turn the corner but we have to look and act like a well coached machine not Keystone Cops. After the string of season ending losses that first game absolutely sets the tone and it either turns a corner for us or sends us down a very dark and unstable road.
The schedule is tough and we don’t know how good they are going to be. They could be the third best or tenth best team on our schedule.
Sure, the wheels could certainly come off this season, especially if the early schedule is not successful. Many (most) predict that, Vegas certainly does, UF is staring at a 4 - 8 campaign. They usually have a pretty good handle on things. But I have confidence the staff is now in a position to resurrect the program. BTW, our boy Torrence just got his brick, at BHG. The 34th ever given. Congrats O'Cyrus.
