VB3 will announce on July 21st. I think it will be UF. Its becoming more and more evident that UF recruits are taking a wait and see approach on this season. Thr guys committed seem solid . negative revruiting on UF and CBN is happening as i type. UF needs a fast start oit of the gate lr im seeing a lackluster class for 25.
If we show a winning record after this schedule and season... I can see the Gators getting over the recruiting doldrums and jump into the top tier of recruiting... especially with a QB like Lagway waiting to take over in 2025...
Depends on a few things: Pass game success, how the team looks, real progress on the field and in our game management. A winning season could still be 6 losses if we do not win our bowl game. Did we beat two of fsu, miami, ucf, at least? Really hoping for 8 wins total and the appearance of real progress and an improved offense/defense and specifically OL/DL so our staff is credible when they ask recruits to trust them and not be swayed by the negative recruiting.
I mean 7 regular season wins when I say winning record, just to make myself clear. But there are mitigating factors, sure, but just having Lagway as our starting QB should assuage some of those fears..
Many schools have good>great QBs that can make throws to WRs. Lagway will help with a few offensive skill guys that want to be Gators. We hope Napier's system works well with Mertz and even better with Lagway. I really hope DJ likes the system we run- routes, etc. I hope it doesn't seem to dramatic to believe wins over the florida schools and some other good results are needed at this point to recover.
I did not wish to be a downer. Mostly i am an optimist. Im just stattng, UF needs to win games starting with ScUm
We cannot afford another losing season period and expect recruiting to be good. Yes our schedule is hard but we are running out of excuses. This is Florida. I believe Miami game is a must win.
Where do you think the class ends up with a winning season where UF looks like we're making progress? Lots of guys committing before the season. Is the cake already going to be baked?
In this day of NIL largess the cake is never done until Fall drills begin. So July 2025 give or take.
Still time. Nobody's signed. Need to go into georgia 5-2 then fight for a couple wins after that. 7 plus a bowl win would do it imo.
I’m more interested in the 7 wins in season. Bowl win would be nice but no idea the opponent or if it’s decided by opt outs and no interst
The UM game is probably the most important game outside of NC games and games to get to the NC in program history. It will really set the tone for the season and knowing how we seem to finish prior years we need to have an impeccable first half of the year. The vultures are circling our recruits if we lose...
I hear where you're coming from, but scUM is now where near that level. Sure it would set the tone with a win, but you make it sound like the season is lost if we lose. Losing that one just means we need to pick up an unexpected win later.
I agree that losing to scUM will not "end" our season. But if we cannot beat miami, who would we beat? Really, we need to beat miami then pick up an unexpected win or two later in the season. In my mind, we need to be 5-2 going into Jax then pull off a couple of wins starting with georgia. The other thing about miami is, they are recruiting very well and I imagine we want some of their commits. Beating them and fsu will surely help.
I do not see how you were awarded Bacon for this post. I agree. If the baconators believe we are going to win 3-4 of our last 5, okay, then miami would not be a must win.
The losing HC in this one will immediately inherit the media's "hottest seat in the country" moniker....particularly if either team looks bad in doing so or loses due to a brainfart of some kind. The winner will get a brief grace period and the narrative will be that they might have a chance to turn the program around after all. Napier needs this W more than anyone else in the country not named Mario Cristobal.
